Rickie Collins News, Rumors, Updates - Kennesaw State Owls

Little impact in loss Collins went 17-for-24 for 129 yards against Arkansas State on Saturday. He also ran nine times for 52 yards.

Impact Collins was efficient, and he didn't turn the ball over. However, this is also the second game in a row wherein he did not contribute a single touchdown, and his third game in four with under 200 yards passing. Maybe Collins is fulfilling his role in this offense, but clearly his role is not going to yield much in the way of counting stats.

No scoring plays vs. Vols Collins went 22-for-34 for 189 yards, ran 14 times for 36 yards, and lost a fumble Saturday against Tennessee.

Impact Much more than this wasn't expected given the circumstances. Collins' schedule is easier going forward, but he has been more serviceable than impressive, having yet to throw for multiple touchdowns in a game and being held under 200 yards passing twice.

TD two ways Collins went 22-for-35 for 260 yards, one touchdown, and one interception against Georgia State on Saturday. He also ran 10 times for 46 yards and a score.

Impact Collins' first start went well, but he was facing West Georgia so we didn't learn much. This is a more-instructive outing, and Collins does have three rushing touchdowns already.

SEPTEMBER 12 • ROTOWIRE

Three TDs in first start Collins went 18-for-23 for 156 yards and a touchdown against West Georgia on Thursday. He also ran seven times for 51 yards and two touchdowns, but lost a fumble.

Impact There seemed to be a clear intention in play for Collins in his first start for the Owls. He completed 78.3 percent of his passes, but he also only tallied 156 yards on 23 attempts. This is a guy who had 10 interceptions in 181 attempts for Syracuse last year, so it might be wise for KSU to let Collins be a distributor who does a bit with his legs.

Collins transferred from Syracuse last season, where he tossed for 1,042 yards, six touchdowns and 10 interceptions while rushing for 126 yards and a score.

Not starting against UNC Collins will not be the starting quarterback for Friday's matchup against North Carolina, Pete Thamel of ESPN.com reports.

Impact Syracuse has chosen to start true freshman Joseph Filardi at quarterback in the weeknight matchup, which will bump Collins to the bench. It was reported that the redshirt sophomore would share snaps for the home game, so there is still a chance he sees some action if he's ahead of gunslinger Luke Carney on the depth chart. It is likely that the Orange will choose to give Filardi a full shot under center, which means Collins may cede to the bench for the entire game.

Impact Even though Collins was decent in Syracuse's latest game, it has seemingly not impressed the team's head coach Fran Brown, who believes changes at quarterback may be the answer to recent team struggles. If Brown fulfills what he says, Collins' statistical upside may be capped, especially if he completely loses his QB1 role to a current backup.

Impact Collins was benched during Week 8 and had thrown three picks in back-to-back games before facing GT. The signal caller had a significantly better game Saturday, and he rushed for at least 40 yards for a third straight outing. In four starts, Collins has completed 54.9 percent of his passes for 858 yards and a 4:7 TD:INT. He's added 132 rushing yards and a rushing TD.

Impact Collins threw a pair of interceptions in the first half as Syracuse struggled to move the football. Looking for a spark, Syracuse head coach Fran Brown turned to true freshman QB Luke Carney to open the third quarter. Carney led three drives that went nowhere before Collins re-entered and finished the contest. Collins threw a third pick before the game ended. Collins has now thrown three interceptions and completed fewer than 50 percent of his pass attempts in two straight games.
