Impact Unfortunately for Kim, transferring colleges from Michigan State to Coastal Carolina did not really pan out for him. Thus, he will give the transfer portal another try for his last year of collegiate eligibility in 2025. Ideally for him, the second time is the charm.

Awful in relief Kim was 1-for-7 passing for 25 yards and one interception during Saturday's 26-6 defeat against Georgia Southern.

Impact Kim stepped onto the field in the fourth quarter to replace the struggling Ethan Vasko, but wasn't any better himself. Kim led three drives, losing a fumble, throwing an interception and tossing four consecutive incompletions. Vasko should remain under center for CCU's regular-season finale, but it's probably best to avoid the Chanticleer offense as a whole.

Could assume starting role Kim split reps in practice with Ethan Vasko and could be the starter against Troy come Saturday, Julia Kennedy of WBTW News 13 reports.

Impact Kim took over for the struggling Vasko in the second quarter in Week 8, and immediately provided better quarterback play. He threw for 182 yards and two touchdowns and while completing 64 percent of his passes. Now, it's unclear who will start against Troy on Saturday as both gunslingers are getting a shot in practice. It's also reportedly possible that both quarterbacks play and the Chanticleers ride the hot hand.

Solid in relief Kim was 16-for-25 passing for 182 yards and two touchdowns during Saturday's 34-24 defeat to Louisiana. He also had five rushes for five yards.

Impact Kim got his first extended action as a Chanticleer, stepping in for Ethan Vasko after a lackluster offensive first quarter. While Kim didn't light it up, he was efficient and didn't turn the ball over, which could be enough for CCU to consider a permanent QB change. Coastal Carolina has Week 9 off and it's unclear who'll draw the start for their matchup at Troy on Nov. 2.

Impact Kim was under center for the Chanticleers' final three drives, replacing the struggling Ethan Vasko while the team trailed 36-7. Kim didn't exactly light it up, going three-and-out twice and logging negative nine rush yards. Vasko is expected to remain the starter moving forward, but Vasko's leash could be shorter.

Impact Kim entered in the fourth quarter with the Chanticleers trailing 43-17 for the team's final two possessions. He led an eight-play, 73-yard touchdown drive and turned the ball over on downs. He'll remain in a backup role unless starter Ethan Vasko goes down with an injury.

Impact Kim lost out to Ethan Vasko to start the season as the starting quarterback. Kim opened up last season as Michigan State's starting quarterback and it did not go particularly well as he completed 57 percent of his passes and threw as many touchdowns as interceptions. It's unclear if he will see any action in Thursday's opener or if Vasko won the job outright.

Impact Kim had a rocky career at Michigan State, but now appears in line to play at least a little for the Chanticleers. It remains to be seen how quarterback reps will be divided come Week 1, however.

Working through injury Michigan State coach Harlon Barnett indicated Monday that Kim (undisclosed) is still a few weeks away from his return to the field, Matt Wenzel of MLive.com reports.

Impact Barnett also indicates the injury seems to be more serious than what Kim originally indicated. The nature of the injury is still not yet disclosed and in his absence, Katin Houser has taken starting reps but has been reported to be in a competition with Sam Leavitt for Saturday's matchup against Nebraska.
