Will open season as starting kicker Vakos will open the season as Wisconsin's starting kicker, per John Steppe of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Impact Vakos was in a battle with Gavin Lahm, Wisconsin's kickoff specialist, for the starting field goal kicker spot all offseason. While they're listed as an "Or" on the depth chart, head coach Luke Fickell confirmed that Vakos would open the season as the starting kicker. Vakos had a down year in 2024, hitting just 12-of-19 field goal attempts.

Impact Vakos was the Badgers' leg in the 2024 campaign, but he ended up making just 12 of his 19 field-goal attempts. He'll now have to compete against Gavin Lahm for the starting role, and it appears neither kicker has the upper hand heading into August.

Heads to Wisconsin Vakos pledged his commitment to Wisconsin on Jan. 10, joining the program as a transfer from Ohio, Jesse Temple of The Athletic reports.

Impact Vakos is likely to take over as Wisconsin's top kicker in 2023 coming off a spectacular freshman campaign at Ohio this past fall. He secured the full-time kicking role during his lone season with the Bobcats and converted 22 of 27 field-goal attempts -- including a 56-yarder against Western Michigan in Week 7 -- and 49 of 50 extra-point tries. Vakos arrives at Wisconsin with three more years of eligibility remaining.
