Declares for NFL Draft Carter has declared for the 2025 NFL Draft, according to his announcement Friday.

Impact Carter will forgo his last year of collegiate eligibility for the NFL. The running back began his career as part of UConn's 2021 team, which got at least 700 all-purpose yards and multiple touchdowns from him. 2022 was his worst year, in which he redshirted and still logged 400-plus rushing yards with a touchdown. Transferring to Michigan State was how he got his shine. 2023 saw Carter record his career high in carries (185) and rushing yards (four). While those dipped in 2024, he logged a career-high seven touchdowns (five rushing and two receiving) across 12 games. Ideally for Carter, all that relatively consistent production will be enough to get him selected by an NFL team.

Finds end zone in season finale Carter tallied seven carries for 47 yards and one touchdown and caught all three targets for 23 yards during Saturday's 41-14 loss to Rutgers.

Impact Carter found the end zone on a 26-yard scamper in the first quarter to open up the scoring on the day. Unfortunately for the Spartans, they would not score again until late in the fourth quarter with the game well in hand in favor of the Scarlet Knights. The redshirt junior running back has been a decent contributor for the Spartans in 2024, running for 499 yards and five touchdowns in 12 games as part of a committee with Kayron Lynch-Adams. With the team remaining ineligible for bowl season, Carter will have to wait until the 2025 season for his next chance to suit up for the Spartans, barring a decision to transfer or enter the NFL Draft.

Despite the lack of production, however, Carter received the larger workload, out-touching his counterpart 20-9 on the day. Both running backs will likely continue to get their share of touches moving forward, though Lynch-Adams' performance will likely earn him more opportunities moving forward.

Carter did match his season high for receptions, and he's now caught 17 of 26 passes through eight games in 2023.
