Commits to Minnesota Loya has committed to Minnesota, Ryan Burns of 247Sports.com reports.

Impact Loya may help fill a void or two expected to be left after Minnesota's team loses Daniel Jackson and Elijah Spencer because of maximized collegiate eligibility. Both were easily the 2024 Golden Gophers' top-two wideouts. They also primarily served as slot receivers, a role Loya has been for 84 percent of his nearly 1,300 snaps as a student athlete. Primarily serving as a slot option for UCLA helped him log at least 250 yards and three touchdowns each year from 2022 to 2024. This year, Loya recorded 29 receptions for 348 yards (12 averaged per reception) and four TDs across 11 games.

Impact Loya has only one year of collegiate eligibility remaining, so it makes sense he gives the transfer portal a go after spending four seasons with UCLA, the first he redshirted. The last saw UCLA unable to qualify for a bowl game. For the third straight season, Loya logged at least 250 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

Impact Loya was the Bruins' No. 1 receiver with J. Michael Sturdivant (undisclosed) ruled out pregame. The graduate senior was the team's only receiver to log more than three targets, and he finished with season-highs in targets and receiving yards. Impact Loya had a decent outing after scoring the Bruins' only receiving touchdown last week. The graduate-senior wideout has had a solid workload over the last four weeks, catching at least four passes for 45 yards in three of these contests. The only game when this did not happen was during the Week 5 contest versus Oregon State in which it appears he played sparingly. Should top wideout Rico Flores (undiscloed) remained sidelined, then Loya could be in line to serve as either WR1 or WR2 during this coming Saturday's road game at Rutgers.

Impact Loya tallied season-highs across the board in yet another blowout loss for the Bruins. Backup quarterback Justyn Martin was under center with usual starter Ethan Garbers sidelined by a lower-leg injury. Martin didn't provide more to the offense with just167 passing yards, but he found Loya for a one-yard touchdown with less than one minute remaining.
