Impact Coming off a 2-10 season in its final year in the American Athletic Conference in 2019, Connecticut was in line to play as an independent team in 2020. However, consulting with student-athletes and public health officials, athletic director David Benedict said that the safety challenges created by the pandemic would put players at too much risk. Members of the football team will remain enrolled at the university have access to team facilities for workouts, but it's possible that key players such as Mensah could look to transfer elsewhere before the 2020 season gets underway. Mensah is coming off back-to-back 1,000-yard rushing campaigns and has totaled 19 touchdowns during his time with the Huskies.
