Summer return on lock Young (knee) is available going into Notre Dame's fall camp, Mike Berardino of the South Bend Tribune reports.

Impact After suffering a torn ACL last summer, Young did not play Notre Dame's 2025 season. The running back has re-enrolled there, and as part of the 2026 Fighting Irish's roster, he provides more depth to their RB room. Young is more on the relatively proven side, having logged 21 rushing attempts for 116 yards (5.5 averaged per carry) and one touchdown his freshman season in 2024.

Targeting Summer return Young (knee) is looking to return to action by the summertime, per Eric Hansen of On3.

Impact The freshman tailback ran for 116 yards and one touchdown on 21 carries in 2024 in South Bend. However, he's dealing with a knee ailment that held him out for the entirety of last season, and it's carried into the Irish's spring practice period. Young could be primed for a big workload this fall if he can stay healthy, but the first step is returning to the practice field.

Impact Young did not play Notre Dame's 2025 season because of a knee injury, which is why he remains out. Ideally for him, for the first time since 2024, 2026 becomes his first year back from injury.

Impact Young will have his season cut short before the Fighting Irish kick off against Miami in Week 1 after tearing the ACL in his right knee during practice. The 5-foot-11 redshirt freshman running back had hopes of mixing in behind Jeremiyah Love in Notre Dame's offense after recording 21 carries for 116 yards and a touchdown across three games as a true freshman last fall.
