GAME LOG

Lands at Arkansas State Shrout announced Monday that he has committed to Arkansas State, joining the program as a graduate transfer from Colorado, Pete Thamel of ESPN.com reports.
Impact After appearing in nine games for Colorado in 2022 and completing just 44.3 percent of his pass attempts for 1,220 yards, seven touchdowns and eight interceptions while adding another score on the ground, Shrout was likely to see his opportunities take a hit had he stuck around with the Buffaloes in 2023 under first-year head coach Deion Sanders. As such, Shrout chose to enter the portal shortly after Sanders' hiring and has now settled at a new home in Arkansas State, where he should have a better chance at emerging atop the depth chart for the Red Wolves, who went 3-9 and ranked No. 118 in total offense last season. Shrout will arrive at Arkansas State with at least one year of eligibility remaining, and he could be granted an additional year if the NCAA grants him a medical redshirt after he missed the entire 2021 season due to a torn ACL.

Set to transfer Shrout announced Tuesday via his personal Twitter account that he will enter the transfer portal and move on from Colorado as a graduate transfer.
Impact Before sitting out Colorado's Nov. 26 loss to Utah in the season finale for an unspecified reason, Shrout appeared in nine of the Buffaloes' first 11 games and completed 44.3 percent of his passes for 1,220 yards, seven touchdowns and eight interceptions while adding a score on the ground. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound signal-caller will be on the move for the second time in his career, after spending his first three years of college at Tennessee before joining Colorado in 2021. Because he missed the entire 2021 season while recovering from knee surgery, Shrout was granted a medical waiver by the NCAA, so he'll have up to two years of eligibility to use at his next school.

No longer starting Shrout won't start Saturday's game against UCLA, Brian Howell of the Boulder Daily Camera reports.
Impact Shrout started the last two games, but he completed just nine of 32 pass attempts for 75 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Following his inconsistent results, the Buffaloes will turn to true freshman Owen McCown as the starting quarterback against UCLA as Colorado attempts to right the ship. However, if McCown struggles, it's possible that the team chooses to go back to Shrout or Brendon Lewis under center at some point.

Healthy, competing in QB battle Shrout (knee) is back at practice and competing for a role, BuffZone.com reports.
Impact Shrout missed all of last season with a knee injury but is fully rehabbed and ready to battle Brendon Lewis for the starting job. The Tennessee transfer projects to have a legitimate chance at winning the job if he performs well in fall camp given Colorado's struggles on offense from a year ago.

Should be healthy by June Head coach Karl Dorrell indicated that Shrout (knee) should be full-go when the team reconvenes for workouts in June, Brian Howell of the Boulder Daily Camera reports.
Impact Shrout has spent spring practicing in a limited capacity and continues to progress in his recovery. The Tennessee transfer could challenge for the starting job after a rather middling season under center from Brendon Lewis in 2021.

Practicing in limited capacity Shrout (knee) participated in Colorado's practice Thursday, Adam Munsterteiger of 247Sports.com reports.
Impact The quarterback returned log a limited practice Thursday, 228 days after suffering a torn ACL during last season with Tennessee. Although he's still not taking contact or "100 percent" healthy, Shrout is on the right track to be ready to go for the upcoming football season. He will compete with Brendon Lewis and Drew Carter for the starting job under center with Lewis the leading candidate to get the role.

Surgery on tap Shrout (knee) is headed for surgery on his knee Thursday and is expected to work as a "travel student coach" for the Buffs this fall, Justin Guerriero of Rivals reports.
Impact Shrout suffered the injury last week in the midst of a quarterback competition he had a chance of winning. Now that he's out of the mix this fall, it appears he's going to work as a mentor for the younger quarterbacks on the roster as he rehabs in preparation for another run at the starting job come 2022.

Dealing with significant knee issue Shrout suffered a "significant" knee injury during Saturday's practice, Brian Howell of the Boulder Daily Camera reports.
Impact Shrout was carted off the field Saturday, which seemed like a pretty good indicator that the knee injury could be severe in nature. It's now been confirmed that he will miss at least a good chunk of the 2021 campaign, opening the door for Brendon Lewis to begin the campaign as the Buffs' starting quarterback.
AUGUST 17, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Injures knee Shrout suffered a knee injury at Saturday's practice, Brian Howell of Buffzone.com reports.
Impact Shrout's injury occurred without any contact with another player, as he was running with the ball and made a cut before going down. He was subsequently carted off the field. The severity of the issue is unkown at this time. The sophomore was competing with Sam Noyer for the starting job under center prior to the injury. He is currently without a timetable for return.
AUGUST 15, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Competing for starting job Shrout participated in spring practice and will compete with Sam Noyer for the starting job in the fall, Brian Howell of 247 Sports reports.
Impact The former Tennessee Volunteer won't have to worry about eligibility for 2021 after the NCAA's recent decision to give all players a one-time pass on transfers. Sam Noyer is the incumbent but missed spring practice while rehabbing from shoulder surgery.
