Strong showing in loss Simmons had 17 rushes for 88 yards and gathered in one of three targets for two yards during Saturday's 27-10 loss to Old Dominion.

Impact Simmons ran well on Saturday, closing out the 2025 regular season with another nice game. Over the running backs final five appearances, Simmons totalled 496 yards and two touchdowns on 84 carries. For the season, the Senior ran for 543 yards.

Big day in loss Simmons compiled 19 carries for 164 yards and one touchdown and hauled in six of eight targets for 64 yards during Saturday's 30-18 defeat to Marshall.

Impact Simmons had a strong day on the ground and through the air on Saturday, setting new-highs in both rushing and receiving. The touchdown opened the games scoring in the first quarter when Simmons exploded for a 92-yard score. The Senior running back has now run for 388 yards and two touchdowns in 2025.

Runs wild in win Simmons recorded 20 rushes for 99 yards and one touchdown and caught all five targets for 25 yards during Saturday's 40-27 defeat against Coastal Carolina.

Impact Simmons received the most carries he has received in any game in 2025 on Saturday and rewarded the decision with a season-high 99 yards and a touchdown. The touchdown was the running backs first this season and came in the fourth quarter from one yard away. Simmons will look to keep the momentum going when the Panthers host Marshall next Saturday.

Leading rusher in loss Simmons totalled 11 rushes for 78 yards and reeled in three of six targets for 11 yards during Thursday's 38-31 loss versus South Alabama.

Impact For the first time all season, Simmons received more than four carries in a game. The 78 yards, bested his previous high of 21 in a game this year. Simmons out-carried fellow running back Rashad Amos 11 to seven, and posted 52 more yards. Amos had been the Panthers lead back through the seasons opening eight weeks but sitting at 1-7 the Panthers may be exploring what they have in the Senior.

Going back to Georgia Simmons will transfer to Georgia State, per his personal X account.

Impact Simmons spent the 2024 campaign with Akron after transferring over from Michigan State. He had a career year with the Zips, rushing for 664 yards and six scores while catching 21 passes for 183 yards. Now, he'll head back to his home state of Georgia where he'll look to bolster Georgia State's backfield.

Enters transfer portal Simmons has entered the NCAA's transfer portal, Matt Zenitz of 247Sports.com reports.

Impact For 2025, Simmons initially committed to Mississippi. But instead, he will re-enter the NCAA's transfer portal to presumably find a better situation for himself. Simmons will be a hot commodity after logging over 800 all-purpose yards with Akron in 2024.

Signs with Ole Miss Simmons has joined Ole Miss for the 2025 season, Pete Nakos of On3.com reports.

Impact Simmons spent the 2024 season with Akron, tallying 110 carries for 664 yards and two scores across 11 games. He spent the three previous years of his career with MSU.

The 5-foot-11 running back now has 110 rushing attempts for 664 yards and two touchdowns on the year, and he'll look to finish out the season strong next week against Toledo.

109 yards vs. Eagles Simmons had 16 carries for 109 yards and hauled in their only target for one yard during Saturday's 25-21 win versus Eastern Michigan.

Impact Simmons put out his second 100-yard performance of the season, outpacing all other Zips running backs by more than double. Unfortunately, supplementary rushing quarterback Tahj Bullock looks to be Akron's goal-line rusher as the quarterback has five rushing touchdowns of under 10 yards in the last three games. Although this doesn't mean Simmons won't get looks in the coming weeks, he can't be depended on for touchdowns at this point in the season.

Scores during loss Simmons had 13 carries for 63 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 34-24 defeat versus Western Michigan.

Impact Simmons has been solid in the past two weeks, racking up 60 or more rushing yards in each and finally getting a rushing touchdown against WMU. The starting ball carrier should continue to get the bulk of the rushing workload from the running back position, but he could see his touchdown upside go down as backup quarterback Tahj Bullock has been getting carries in the red zone.

Over 100 totals yards in loss Simmons totaled nine carries for 73 yards and caught all five targets for 32 yards during Saturday's 27-20 defeat against Bowling Green.

Impact Simmons hasn't been great so far this season, but he was able to hit his second most rushing yards of the season and surpass 100 scrimmage yards for the second time this year. The junior ball carrier doesn't look to be a great fantasy play at this point in the season, but an increased workload in the running and passing game could mean more productivity in the coming weeks.

Impact Simmons was perhaps one of the only bright spots of Akron's offense as the team got taken over by Rugters. The 5-foot-11 running back punched in a long rush score in the fourth quarter which did amount to most of his performance, but he will be leaned on continuously in the coming weeks with the Zips' volatile air attack.

Impact Simmons is hoping Akron can help him get back on track. Before 2022, he logged 278 rushing yards and a receiving touchdown during the Michigan State Spartans' 2021 season. They began preferring other options afterward, hence his significant decline in statistical output since then. But with the Akron team expected to lose multiple running backs (redshirt seniors Lorenzo Lingard and Drake Anderson), Simmons stands a decent chance of shining brighter than he ever did with MSU.
