Impact Mateer hasn't decided whether he'll enter the transfer portal or not, and technically, he has until kickoff for the Dec. 27 game to do so. However, he's still practicing with the Cougars, and he remains on path to start the Holiday Bowl. The sophomore passed for 3,139 yards while adding another 826 yards on the ground with 44 total touchdowns.

Stalls in loss Mateer was 16-for-22 passing for 182 yards, one touchdown and one interception during Saturday's 15-14 loss versus Wyoming. He also had 18 rushes for 56 yards with one touchdown.

Impact Mateer struggled against a Wyoming defense that sacked one of the top FBS quarterbacks four times. The sophomore will look to end the 2024-25 season on a high note in the college bowl game. Despite the relatively poor showing against the Cowboys, Mateer had one of the top offensive performances this season under center in the FBS. He threw for 3,139 yards on 29 touchdowns. On the ground Mateer ran for 826 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Another big day can't save WSU Mateer completed 17 of 23 passes for 250 yards and two touchdowns during Saturday's 41-38 loss versus Oregon State. He also had 14 rushes for 75 yards with two touchdowns.

Impact Mateer continued against Oregon State to add to his career season on the stats page. The redshirt sophomore is on the verge off surpassing 3,000 passing yards (2,957 yards on 208 completions). In addition, Mateer can also surpass 800 rushing yards (770 yards on 160 carries). He might have an easier time running against their next opponent, Wyoming on Saturday (Nov. 30). The Cowboys defense is near the bottom of the nation against the run while being in the middle of the pack against the pass.

Impact Mateer continues to churn out quality game after game. He has one of the best offensive resumes in the country with a total of 3,402 yards, 2,707 via the pass. The sophomore has 38 total touchdowns, 26 via the pass. Mateer's offensive output helps the Cougars who have one of the most pores defenses in the country. The sophomore should have an easier time running the ball in their next matchup, Nov. 23 against Oregon State. The Beavers defense against the run is at the bottom quarter in the country. Oregon State's defense against the pass is in the middle of the pack in the country.

Continues to pile up the TDs Mateer completed 18 of 24 passes for 179 yards and four touchdowns during Saturday's 49-28 victory against Utah State. He also had 13 rushes for 55 yards with one touchdown.

Impact The five touchdowns against Utah State added to the sophomore's total this season. Overall Mateer has 33 touchdowns this season, 22 via the air. The one negative is the sacks. Mateer was sacked twice against Utah State. For the season the sophomore has been sacked 25 times. Mateer should have a big day in the next contest against New Mexico, Nov. 16. The Lobos defense is very poor and at the bottom of the country against both the run and the pass.

With the performance against Hawaii, the redshirt sophomore is having a breakout season with almost 2,500 total yards (1,896 passing yards and 533 rushing yards). Mateer has a good shot padding his stats on Saturday (Oct. 26) against San Diego State. The Aztecs defense is middle of the pack in the country against the pass.

It's also been a tough couple of weeks in eluding the pressure. Mateer was sacked four times against Fresno State. In the past two weeks the sophomore has been sacked 12 times. Mateer might have a better time running the ball than throwing the ball against Hawaii on Oct. 19. The Rainbow Warriors defense is a bit tougher against the pass than the run.

Impact The 26 completions tied last week's number against San Jose State. He also surpassed 300 passing yards for the third time this season. Mateer struggled rushing the ball. He came in averaging 106 yards on the ground in four games. It didn't help that Boise State did not let Mateer out of the pocket as he was sacked seven times. The junior could have an easier time against Fresno State this Saturday. The Bulldogs' defense is in the middle of the pack in the country against the run and pass.

Impact The sophomore already has 11 touchdowns on the season in the first three games. It was an impressive outing for Mateer against their rival and he did it with his arm. In the previous week the sophomore only threw 115 passing yards while rushing for 197 yards in the loss against Texas Tech. He might have a tougher time on Sept. 20 against San Jose State whose defense is in the top quarter in the country against both the run and pass. But the Spartans have not faced quality competition while going undefeated 3-0.

Sets WSU Mark for QB Rushing Mateer rumbled 197 yards on 21 carries and a touchdown to set a Washington State quarterback rushing record on Saturday in the Cougars 37-16 win over Texas Tech on Sept. 7.

Impact This mark was one week after the junior collected six touchdowns. The Cougars signal caller only had to complete 9-of-19 pass attempts for 115 yards and a touchdown against Texas Tech including a 21-yard touchdown pass. Mateer will have a much tougher assignment on Saturday (Sept. 14) against Washington in the Apple Cup. The Huskies were in the top 50 last season against the run with 148 yards per game. Mateer might be throwing the ball more against Washington who were near the bottom in the nation against the pass in 2023 allowing 259 yards in the air.
