Leaving Sam Houston Bauer will enter the transfer portal, he announced via his personal X account.

Impact Bauer saw limited snaps in 2024, replacing Hunter Watson when the starting gunslinger was injured or entering the game for mop-up duty. All told, he tossed for 310 yards, two touchdowns and one interception while completing 61.5 percent of his passes. The former Central Michigan Chippewa will now seek his third program, where he should have one year of eligibility remaining.

Steps in after injury Bauer replaced Hunter Watson against Louisiana Tech on Tuesday after Watson left the game with an undisclosed injury. He went 4-for-4 for 17 yards and ran twice for 12 yards.

Impact Both teams struggled offensively in this game, and Bauer did not goose the Bearkat's offense. Sam Houston is off until November 16, so Watson will have time to recover and get ready to return to the field.
