Leaving Michigan Garcia has announced his entry into the NCAA transfer portal, Matt Zenitz of CBSSports.com reports.

Impact Garcia will enter the portal after spending one season with the Wolverines. The 6-foot-2 senior, who started his career with Miami, last appeared with ECU during the 2024 season, throwing for 1,426 yards (109-of-181), eight touchdowns and 12 interceptions, adding on 46 yards and two scores with his legs (six games).

Katin Houser played the remainder of the game but did not look good as he completed fewer than 40 percent of his passes. Given how poorly Houser played Garcia likely won't lose the starting job, however he clearly has a short leash due to his turnover issues.

He threw two more interceptions -- bringing him up to 11 through five games -- and failed to complete 50 percent of his passes. He hit a few big plays in the game, including 40-yard and 53-yard touchdown passes in the third quarter, but his inconsistency in the passing game is still a concern moving forward.

Impact Garcia has found his next destination after announcing his decision to transfer just two days ago. A former top-25 recruit, Garcia should have a real shot to compete for the starting quarterback gig right out of the gates alongside Brady Cook, who his currently recovering from right shoulder surgery. In eight appearances for Miami, Garcia struggled to find consistency, completing 68-0f-115 pass attempts for 803 yards and five touchdowns to go with four interceptions. He'll look to revamp his career at his new home in Colombia next fall while still having three years of eligibility.
