Impact Thomas got off to a fast start Saturday, taking his first carry 27 yards for the game's opening touchdown. However, the sophomore saw just one carry the rest of the contest in a blowout UNLV victory. While his touchdown was encouraging, it's been a disappointing start to the year for Thomas managers -- he has just 10 carries for 45 yards through two games in what looks to be a crowded Rebels' backfield.

Impact After rushing for 503 yards and 12 touchdowns as a true freshman last year, big things were expected from Thomas coming into the 2024 campaign. However, the 5-foot-9 running back got off to a slow start Saturday, averaging just 1.9 yards on eight carries while splitting work with Michael Allen, Kylin James and Greg Burrell. While it's too early to jump to conclusions, it may be best to temper expectations for Thomas. If UNLV does utilize a backfield committee, as they did in 2023, it would be tough for Thomas to provide consistent fantasy production.

Impact Thomas ultimately led the UNLV backfield with 35 yards while adding a seven-yard touchdown in the first quarter. The freshman running back has just two scores in six games since his 100-yard, four-touchdown performance vs. UTEP in Week 4. Thomas has shown some upside this year, though it's hard to count on any singular running back in a muddled UNLV backfield -- four players got seven or more carries in Friday's win. Overall, Thomas is up to 420 yards with nine touchdowns on 91 rushing attempts this season.
