Impact Gaines, a Florida native, will transfer colleges from Rhode Island. The question becomes whether or not his 2025 season indicates that he significantly improved. Though part of Iowa State for multiple seasons, he barely logged several receptions. Gaines subsequently transferred to URI, whose 2025 season includes his 1,018 receiving yards (15.7 averaged per reception) and four touchdowns.

Entering transfer portal Gaines plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, per Bill Koch of The Providence Journal.

Impact Gaines will enter the portal following two years with Rhode Island. The 6-foot-3 receiver had a productive season with the Rams in 2025, catching 65 passes for 1,018 yards and four touchdowns across 14 contests. The former Iowa State transfer will retain a single year of eligibility at his next destination.

Impact Gaines will look for opportunities to contribute with a new program after spending his first two collegiate seasons with Iowa State. The 6-foot-2 redshirt freshman recorded three receptions for 14 yards across six outings for the Cyclones.
