Change of pace QB Johnson completed 1 of 2 passes for 20 yards during Saturday's 41-38 win over Washington State. He also had six rushes for 47 yards with one touchdown.

Impact With the return of Ben Gulbranson, Johnson was used situationally especially on running plays. The freshman did register his first career touchdown, a 15-yard run in the first quarter. He will look to help the Beavers pull off another upset, this time against Boise State on Friday (Nov. 29). The freshman will have a tougher time against the Broncos defense who are in the top 15 in the nation against the run.

Gets the bulk of time under center Johnson completed 9 of 19 passes for 106 yards and one interception during Saturday's 28-0 loss against Air Force. He also had 13 rushes for 22 yards.

Impact Johnson saw most of the time under center with Ben Gulbranson (undisclosed) not available, but the freshman did not take advantage of it. Johnson is seeing more time than the other quarterback, Gevani McCoy who only saw a few plays under center. McCoy started against Air Force but was quickly pulled. If Gulbranson does not start in the next game against Washington State (Nov.23), Johnson could excel against a Cougars pass defense that is in the bottom quarter in the nation.

Gets more time under center Johnson was 1-for-2 passing for six yards during Saturday's 44-7 defeat to California.

Impact Johnson is the change of pace quarterback this season as the Beavers utilize the freshman's speed. Oregon State starting quarterback, junior Gerald McCoy, was benched against California with junior Ben Gulbranson receiving most of the snaps. The Beavers are still in the hunt for bowl eligibility, so Johnson does not appear to be getting any more time under center than the occasional play or two each game.

Gets another snap Johnson was 1-for-1 passing for six yards during Saturday's 49-14 defeat against Oregon.

Impact The redshirt freshman has had at least one pass in all three games so far this season. Oregon State is looking to the future for Johnson as current starting quarterback Gevani McCoy is ensconced in the top spot.
