Following Franklin to Blacksburg Grunkemeyer will transfer to Virginia Tech, per Matt Zenitz of CBSSports.com.

Impact Grunkemeyer was thrust into a starting role for Penn State when starter Drew Allar was lost for the season. He played admirably, tossing for 1,341 yards, eight touchdowns and four interceptions while completing 69.1 percent of his passes. Now, the gunslinger will follow the head coach that recruited him, James Franklin, figures to have the inside track for the Hokies' QB1 gig.

Impact Grunkemeyer stepped in at quarterback once Drew Allar (ankle) went down. From Week 8 forward, Grunkemeyer completed 68.9 percent of his passes for 1,236 yards and a 7:4 TD:INT across seven games. He'll have three years of eligibility remaining.
