Declares for draft Vele announced on his personal Twitter page Sunday that he declared for the 2024 NFL Draft.

Impact Following the announcement, Vele is not expected to play for the Utes in the 2023 SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl against Northwestern on Dec. 23. Vele had 55 catches for 593 yards and three scores in 2023, and he finished each of his last two years at Utah with at least 40 catches, 590 yards and three scores.

Impact Vele had the dubious distinction of being one of Utah's most productive players during the blowout loss. With the rushing game contained, Vele caught half of Bryson Barnes' passes and was responsible for almost 60 percent of his passing yardage.

Impact Cameron Rising spread the ball around quite a bit to his receivers, but no one seems to be emerging as a true vertical threat. Vele only averaged 14.5 yards per catch and while that will move the chains, it won't move the needle much in establishing the Utes as an elite passing offense.

Impact Although Vele began the season atop the depth chart, he's been conspicuously quiet, with only five catches coming into Saturday. Although his receiving yardage left something to be desired, he was in Cameron Rising's sights in the red zone. Despite the two scores, Rising will probably continue to spread the ball around, with an emphasis on the team's tight ends.

Looks like top wideout Wide receivers coach Chad Bumphis indicated Tuesday that Vele is considered the Utes' top wide receiver, Josh Furlong of KSL.com reports.

Impact Vele's position atop the depth chart could bring sizable dividends from a fantasy standpoint given how well the Utes' offense operated last season under the direction of Cameron Rising. That being said, Britain Covey was the lead wideout last season with just 52 catches for 514 yards and three touchdowns, and both Brant Kuithe and Dalton Kincaid figure to be heavily involved again in 2022.
