Helps buoy passing game Barker recorded seven receptions (10 targets) for 69 yards during Saturday's 39-28 loss to Washington.
Impact Barker made by far his biggest impact since transferring to Michigan State this offseason, finishing as the team's second-leading receiver in terms of catches, yards and targets behind wideout Keon Coleman (9-116-13) during Saturday's loss. The former Illinois tight end had to help shoulder much of the Spartan's receiving production after No. 1 wideout Jayden Reed (undisclosed) failed to make the trip out to Washington, leaving his availability up in the air moving forward this season. Barker may stand to see similarly increased usage should Reed remain out, and if Michigan State's running game continues to struggle, during a home tilt against Minnesota this coming Saturday.
