Still on track to be starter Alston is still on track to be Auburn's starting running back at Baylor on Aug. 29, Bryan Matthews of On3.com reports.

Impact Back in July, Taylor Jones of USA Today announced that Alston was set to be Auburn's starting running back as the Tigers prepared for their 2025 season. In that case, the RB should see significant improvement from his 2024 season, when he logged 52 carries for 276 yards (5.3 averaged per carry) and a career-high three touchdowns.

Part of Baylor prep Altson (heel) participated in Auburn's practice period in which it simulated Baylor's defensive formations, appearing healthy in the process, per Nathan King of 247Sports.com.

Impact Alston has been ramping up his participation, and the tailback reportedly participated with the starters as Auburn preps for Baylor by simulating their formations. Given his involvement in such a specific game-prep drill, it appears Alston is healthy and ready to roll. He's expected to be the Tigers' lead tailback this fall after rushing for 276 yards and three touchdowns last season on 5.3 yards-per-carry.

Impact Previously undisclosed, Alston's heel injury is inching closer to being a past problem. By all accounts, he was Auburn's first-choice running back for drills Monday. If the RB1 can withstand contact in a future practice, Alston should be good to go at Baylor on Aug. 29. Though not out of the woodwork yet, his status is looking much more probable.

Impact Alston was limited during Saturday's practice, suited up but participating minimally and walking with a noticeable limp. As Auburn works through fall camp, running back depth could be a concern if his status lingers. The senior enters his fourth season with the Tigers having recorded 681 rushing yards and five touchdowns in his career.
