Won't play for LSU in 2026 LSU will add two players to their 2026 season roster to fill the 105-player requirement, eliminating the possibility of adding Wright (not injury related) later in the year, Pete T...

Impact With this move, LSU is closing the door on adding Wright to the active roster for the 2026 season -- and the future of the TE is now more uncertain than ever. Wright spent time in the preseason with the Cleveland Browns, and now he could join a practice squad in the NFL, but he could also choose to stand pat and make a decision later, depending on whether he ultimately gets eligibility for the 2027 season, assuming that's the route he decides to go through.

SEPTEMBER 8 • ROTOWIRE

Won't be available for Week 1 Wright (not injury related) was not included in the LSU roster for the Week 1 matchup against Clemson on Saturday, Pete Thamel of ESPN.com reports.

Impact Wright and Zxavian Harris could potentially be added later in the year, as both are enrolled in school. LSU has submitted a roster of 103 players, leaving them with two open spots. Wright should be a key player for LSU once he's eligible, but it's uncertain when -- or if -- he'll be able to play for the Tigers. At this stage, his next chance to play would come against LA Tech on Sept. 12 in Week 2.

SEPTEMBER 4 • ROTOWIRE

Granted injunction for eligibility Wright (not injury related) has been granted an injunction by a Louisiana judge, paving his way for eligibility this season, Pete Thamel of ESPN.com reports.

Impact Wright said he expects to be added to the team's roster -- which is due Friday -- and also expects to play in the team's opener on Saturday versus Clemson. While this is another hurdle that Wright has cleared in his pursuit to return to collegiate football after participating in training camp with the Cleveland Browns, it's likely not the last. While LSU has made it clear that the program wants Wright to play, it's still a massive risk to add him to the roster when this legal battle is far from over and Wright could still be ruled ineligible. More clarity on the situation will come Friday when LSU releases its roster.

SEPTEMBER 3 • ROTOWIRE

Week 1 status remains murky Wright (not injury related) is uncertain to be available for the Week 1 matchup against Clemson on Saturday, according to LSU Report.

Impact Wright received approval to return to LSU after being waived by the Cleveland Browns in the NFL preseason, but it's uncertain whether he'll actually be able to step on the field. If he does play, he'd be a game-changing presence for LSU's offense -- he had a productive campaign with Ole Miss last season, totaling 39 receptions for 635 yards and five touchdowns. There's no clear timetable for a decision regarding his eligibility status.

SEPTEMBER 2 • ROTOWIRE

Approved to join LSU Wright has been allowed to join LSU ahead of the 2026 season, Glen West of On3.com reports.

Impact Wright had been originally denied eligibility and was not going to be transferring to LSU after getting cut from the Browns. The senior tight end had a productive campaign with Ole Miss last season, totaling 39 receptions for 635 yards and five touchdowns. His familiarity with Lane Kiffin's system could set him up for an expanded role alongside fellow tight end Trey'Dez Green.

AUGUST 29 • ROTOWIRE

Won't be eligible for LSU Wright is now ineligible to return to college after the SEC passed a rule that prohibits players from returning to college from the NFL, per On3.

Impact Wright committed to LSU via the transfer portal after spending much of the NFL preseason with the Cleveland Browns. He was initially primed to return to school and link up with his old head coach Lane Kiffin in Baton Rouge, but under immense pressure, the SEC has followed the Big Ten's example and passed a rule outlawing players from returning to school after they've tasted the NFL.

AUGUST 25 • ROTOWIRE

Verbal commitment to LSU Wright has an agreement in place to play for LSU for the 2026 season if he clears NFL waivers, per ESPN.com.

Impact Wright, who was recently waived by the Cleveland Browns, would have to clear waivers before being able to return to college and play for the Tigers. Wright was part of a group of players who were recently granted eligibility due to a lawsuit in Louisiana, granting a temporary restraining order to gain one additional season of eligibility. Wright most recently played for LSU head coach Lane Kiffin at Ole Miss in 2025, catching 39 passes for 635 yards and five touchdowns across 15 games.

AUGUST 23 • ROTOWIRE

Entering transfer portal Wright will enter the transfer portal as he looks to join a new program for the 2026 season, Matt Zenitz of CBSSports.com reports.

Impact Wright is currently on the Cleveland Browns roster, but he has decided that he will seek a new program to play for in the 2026 season. The tight end was one of 16 players whom a Louisiana court granted a temporary restraining order against the NCAA on Wednesday to pursue a fifth year of eligibility. In the 2025 campaign, he played for Ole Miss, where he had a stellar season, recording 39 receptions for 635 yards and five touchdowns. Wright should have interest from many Power Four teams due to his productivity throughout his collegiate career.

AUGUST 20 • ROTOWIRE

Granted extra year of eligibility Wright was granted an extra year of eligibility and could return to college for the 2026 season, according to Bud Elliott of CBS Sports.

Impact Wright signed with the Eagles in April after going undrafted in the 2026 NFL Draft and was cut Aug. 10, but he was quickly snapped up by the Browns the next day. Wright is on the Browns' 90-man roster, but he could choose not to play in the NFL and instead return to college to try his luck again in the draft in 2027. Wright had 39 catches for 635 yards and five touchdowns across 15 games with Ole Miss in 2025.

AUGUST 19 • ROTOWIRE

Caps season with TD catch Wright accrued three catches for 64 yards and a touchdown during Thursday's 31-27 loss to Miami (FL) in the Fiesta Bowl CFP Semifinal.

Impact Wright compiled a successful pair of campaigns in Oxford and capped off his college career with his best season yet, amassing 39 catches for 635 yards and five touchdowns in 2025. Considering he's played seven-plus games in each of his four collegiate seasons, all at power-four programs, he'll likely now shift his focus toward the pros as the next step in his football journey. Wright is vewed as a likely Day 3 pick but could see his stock rise if he impresses scouts during the draft process.

Cleared to play Saturday Wright (undisclosed) is available for Saturday's game against Tulane.

Impact Wright is one of three TEs who were upgraded from probable to available for this playoff matchup, along with Trace Buckler and Hayden Bradley. DECEMBER 19, 2025 • ROTOWIRE

Expected to play Saturday Wright (undisclosed) is expected to play in Saturday's game against Tulane, Pete Nakos of On3.com reports.

Impact Wright was a surprise addition to Mississippi's injury report Wednesday, but it looks like no problem will come of it. The tight end is having a career, with career highs in receptions (30) and receiving yards (489) that have made him a top TE to cap off his collegiate tenure.

DECEMBER 19, 2025 • ROTOWIRE

Probable against Tulane Wright (undisclosed) is listed as probable for the Rebels' first-round playoff game against Tulane.

Impact Wright has yet to miss a game this season and is in the midst of a career year, with 30 catches for 489 yards and four touchdowns. His status for the first round of the College Football Playoff has been throw into question, but given his "probable" designation, he should play barring any major setback.

OCTOBER 25, 2025 • ROTOWIRE

Now probable Wright (undisclosed) is probable for Saturday's game against Oklahoma.

Impact Wright's status was upgraded to probable after initially popping up with a questionable tag Wednesday. He had his lowest yard total of the season in a tough loss to Georgia last week and will look to bounce back in what should be a more effective pass attack against the Sooners.
