Logs two TDs for Big 12 title Eakin recorded three receptions (on four targets) for 66 yards and two touchdowns during Saturday's 34-7 win versus Brigham Young.

Impact Eakin's touchdown receptions logged all but five of his 66 yards. For the first, Behren Morton threw a somewhat errant yet deep-enough pass that Eakin impressively caught. The resulting touchdown established Tech's first lead, which TTU never relinquished. For the Red Raiders' second touchdown, they set Eakin in motion, which helped Behren Morton complete a short pass to his aforementioned wideout. The wide receiver ran 25-plus yards, assuring Tech's last touchdown. For career highs, Morton is only one TD, two receptions and 62 yards short of equaling his current tallies.

Texas Tech will host Central Florida next week.

Impact Eakin recorded at least five catches for the fourth time this season. That's not bad when you consider that Texas Tech has dealt with some instability at the QB position of late. Back-up Will Hammond was forced out of this game with a non-contact knee injury which led to Mitch Griffis seeing the bulk of the action. Starter Behren Morton is expected back next week which should give a boost to Eakin's opportunities. Texas Tech will play at Kansas State next week.

It's worth noting that starter Behren Morton left with an undisclosed injury which paved the way for Will Hammond to play most of the game. Hammond is a dual-threat quarterback which could affect Eakin's outlook for the rest of the season. Teammates Caleb Douglas and Terrance Carter did see eight targets apiece, so it's not like Texas Tech will completely go away from the passing game. They'll play at Arizona State next week and it's likely they will need to throw the ball in that game.
