Heading for NFL C.J. declared for the 2023 NFL Draft on Tuesday, Stephen Igoe of 247Sports.com reports.

Impact Johnson will look to advance to the professional ranks following his career-best campaign with ECU in 2022, logging 67 receptions (on 94 targets) for 1,016 yards and 10 touchdowns over 13 games. The fourth-year junior will also apparently forego his final season of collegiate eligibility, thus paving the way for Jaylen Johnson and Jsi Hatfield to step up into bigger roles for the Pirates in 2023.

Scores in bowl win Johnson caught seven passes for 83 yards and a touchdown and completed one pass for 14 yards in Tuesday's 53-29 win over Coastal Carolina.

Impact Johnson led the Pirates in receptions and receiving yards Tuesday, and completed a pass for good measure. His 15-yard touchdown catch in the fourth quarter was his 10th of the season, by far the best on the team. Johnson developed great chemistry with Holton Ahlers over the past four seasons, and will have to find a way to develop that with a new quarterback next season.

Impact Johnson was suspended indefinitely in February, but the junior wideout has been reinstated. Johnson will continue working to regain the trust of his teammates, including quarterback Holton Ahlers, moving forward into the season.
