In line to play in Week 2 Taylor (knee) is slated to play in Saturday's Week 2 tilt versus Southern Illinois, Kellis Robinett of The Wichita Eagle reports.

Impact Taylor was expected to play a limited role in the opener but was ultimately held out after the Wildcats took a big lead early and didn't need his services. The senior should be more involved in the game plan Saturday as he looks for a major improvement on his 19 catches for 293 yards and a touchdown over eight games last year.

Impact Taylor was fully cleared for practice a couple of weeks ago, but it's not surprising the staff will ease him back into action given that he's coming back from a major knee injury in the form of a torn ACL. The senior finished out 2020 third on the team in receptions (19) and receiving yards (293) but finished first in those categories for the wide receiver group. The return of Skylar Thompson under center for 2021 could make the passing attack a bit more formidable than it was a season ago.

Cleared for full practice Taylor (knee) rejoined the team at practice Tuesday and has been fully cleared, Rivals.com reports.

Impact Coach Chris Klieman indicated that they are still going to monitor how Taylor feels over the next few weeks before deciding on the senior's status for the opener versus Stanford, but it appears he's making some strides in his rehab. Taylor posted 19 catches for 293 yards and a touchdown on 45 targets over eight games last season but missed all of spring practice due to a torn ACL suffered late in the 2020 season.
