Slated to start vs. Wagner Coleman (undisclosed) is slated to start in Week 2 against Wagner, per JMU Sports News.

Impact Coleman will get the start in JC Evans' stead in Week 2. He saw some action in the opener against Liberty, tossing for 57 yards on 5-of-9 passing. The Dukes should have little trouble handling FCS Wagner even with their backup gunslinger starting.

Not starting for Dukes Coleman isn't JMU's starter in Week 1 against Liberty, as the Dukes have handed JC Evans the QB1 gig, per Libby Mercer of The Breeze Sports.

Impact Coleman, the transfer from FCS Richmond who amassed 2,373 yards and 19 touchdowns last season, had a good fall camp and was thought to have earned a legit shot at the starting job. While Evans will draw the starting nod, Coleman will reportedly handle the 4th and 8th drives of the game to get a chance to show what he can do.

Impact Coleman transferred to JMU in the offseason following two seasons with Richmond and apparently has been making waves as the start of the 2026 season draws near. The 6-foot-3 signal caller has been expected to compete for the starting job and, along with fellow quarterback JC Evans, has been named as a potential frontrunner at least for the moment.
