Out for regular-season finale Nesbit (wrist) is out for the Tar Heels' game Saturday against North Carolina State, Rivals.com reports.

Impact About a month and a half was not enough for Nesbit to announce he would undergo surgery and recover from it in time before the 2024 Tar Heels ended their regular season. Ideally for him, they still win their rivalry game against North Carolina State and qualify a bowl game, which would extend his potential availability for this year by at least one more matchup.

Impact There's currently no timetable for Nesbit's potential return to action. The tight end is North Carolina's leading receiver this season with 24 catches for 264 yards and three touchdowns. In his stead, John Copenhaver should assume his role as the top tight end in Chapel Hill.
