Logs 86 yards from scrimmage
Smith had 18 rushes for 62 yards and hauled in 4 of 7 targets for 24 yards during Saturday's 38-10 defeat to Penn State.
Impact
SMU's loss to Penn State was in the 2024-25 College Football Playoff and indicates his 2024 and senior season is finished. Smith logged 235 carries for 1,332 yards (5.7 averaged per carry) and 14 touchdowns. As a receiving option, he recorded 39 receptions for 327 yards (8.4 averaged per reception) and four TDs. Clearly, 2024 was easily his best year as a student athlete and the right time for him to excel. The running back must turn professional in 2025, and his senior season may earn him a draft selection.

Valiant effort in ACC title game
Smith notched 24 rushes for 113 yards and caught 6 of 10 targets for 34 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 34-31 loss against Clemson.
Impact
Smith was a force to be reckoned with as a rusher and as a receiver, but it wasn't enough to push SMU to a victory over Clemson for the ACC crown. Still, the tailback will remain the Mustangs' lead back and given his average of 21.0 carries each game from Week 9 onward, he figures to retain his bell-cow role in the Mustangs' round one College Football Playoff game against Penn State on Dec. 21.

Versatile output in blowout
Smith compiled 16 carries for 68 yards and one touchdown and caught all three targets for 66 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 38-6 win over California.
Impact
Smith got back to the 100 all-purpose yards mark in a blowout win over California. The tailback has proven time and time again this season that he can do it all, and SMU appears comfortable riding him as its bell cow back moving forward. He'll look to keep up the stellar production in the ACC title game against Clemson.

Scores but inefficient day
Smith compiled 19 carries for 63 yards and one touchdown and reeled in 0 of 2 targets for zero yards during Saturday's 33-7 victory versus Virginia.
Impact
Smith found the end zone for the fourth straight week, but was inefficient on the ground. No matter - SMU still won by 26 points. With 19 carries, Smith remains the clear lead back for the Mustangs, followed by LJ Johnson, who toted the rock 11 times against Virginia.

Racks up 120 yards in win
Smith posted 18 carries for 120 yards and one touchdown and hauled in 4 of 5 targets for 13 yards during Saturday's 38-28 win versus Boston College.
Impact
Smith hit the 100-yard mark for the third straight week and the sixth time this season. With quarterback Kevin Jennings in the backfield, the run game is wide open for Smith given the former's rushing ability. Smith also now has five touchdowns over the past three games, and has caught four passes in back-to-back outings. The tailback remains one of the focal points for the Mustangs as they hit their home stretch.

Monster day on the ground
Smith notched 23 rushes for 161 yards and two touchdowns and hauled in 4 of 5 targets for 21 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 48-25 victory versus Pittsburgh.
Impact
Smith put it all on display against the Panthers, from his receiving chops to his workhorse capability. His four receptions tied a season-high, while his 23 carries and 161 yards were both season highs for the tailback. Smith has seen double-digit carries in every game but two this season and should remain SMU's primary ball-carrier until further notice.

Hits century mark in win
Smith accrued 26 rushes for 117 yards and two touchdowns and hauled in all three targets for 22 yards during Saturday's 28-27 overtime victory versus Duke.
Impact
Smith was given a workhorse type of workload against the Blue Devils, and he made the most of it with 117 yards and two scores. It was his biggest outing since he ran for 129 yards against Florida State in Week 5, and the first time since that game he's scored a touchdown. His 26 carries were also easily a season high, and the Mustangs may begin to lean on the tailback a little heavier as the season wears on.

Solid performance in big win
Smith logged eight carries for 67 yards and hauled in their only target for nine yards during Saturday's 40-10 victory versus Stanford.
Impact
Smith's 67 yards led the SMU backfield, but in terms of carries, it was paced by L.J. Johnson. In fact, Smith's eight carries were his fewest all season. In a 30-point victory, it's harder to discern what snap distributions truly mean in terms of offensive involvement moving forward. Ultimately, the tailback should remain a staple of the Mustangs' rushing attack moving forward.

Top rusher for SMU
Smith posted 13 carries for 52 yards and hauled in all three targets for 17 yards during Saturday's 34-27 victory over Louisville.
Impact
Smith was once again the Mustangs' leading rusher, but he had a much quieter day than some of his past performances this season. He remains involved as a receiver with three catches, but his 52 yards on the ground were his lowest total of the season. It was an overall quiet day for Smith, but he'll remain the go-to option in this Mustangs' backfield.

ROTOWIRE
Dangerous by air and ground
Smith logged 17 carries for 129 yards and one touchdown and reeled in 3 of 4 targets for 50 yards during Saturday's 42-16 victory against Florida State.
Impact
Smith paced SMU's backfield in a dominant win over Florida State. The large lead allowed the tailback to rack up 17 carries, and he also proved dangerous as a receiver. Smith will remain an excellent play in fantasy as long as he continues to dominate the carries and offer value as a pass-catcher.

Amasses 151 all-purpose yards
Smith posted 18 rushes for 127 yards and three touchdowns and caught all two targets for 24 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 66-42 win against TCU.
Impact
Smith had a big day in what was a big day for SMU's entire offense. The tailback only needed 18 carries to run for 127 yards, and added two receptions as well. Smith's 18 carries were the most he's seen all season, and the tailback could be picking up steam in this backfield after setting a season high in carries a week ago as well with 14.

Solid output in loss
Smith logged 14 carries for 75 yards and gathered in all four targets for 21 yards during Friday's 18-15 loss against Brigham Young.
Impact
At this point, it seems unlikely Smith will ever be a true bell cow back for the Mustangs. His 14 carries on Friday night were a season high. Still, he doesn't nee to be to be effective. Smith failed to score a touchdown for the first time this season, but still tallied 75 yards on the ground and added value as a receiver. He'll remain SMU's top option in the backfield moving forward.

Tops 100 yards in Week 1
Smith logged nine rushes for 108 yards and two touchdowns during Saturday's 59-7 win versus Houston Christian.
Impact
Smith ran for a highly efficient 108 yards on nine carries. The halfback could've piled on a much higher rushing total, but SMU was playing a severely overmatched Houston Christian squad. That allowed SMU's backup tailback Derrick McFall to rack up 16 carries in his stead, but Smith should still be the clear top back in this room.

Promoted to starting role
Smith is listed as the starting running back for the Week 1 matchup against Houston Christian on Saturday, Jacob Richman of LoneStarLive.com reports.
Impact
Smith was the Mustangs' top ball carrier in their Week 0 win, finishing with 11 carries for 67 yards and a touchdown. Since he had more carries and yards than both Jaylan Knighton and LJ Johnson Jr, it's not surprising to see him listed as the top option in the backfield for the Mustangs' upcoming contest.

ROTOWIRE
Leading rusher for SMU
Smith tallied 11 carries for 67 yards and one touchdown and reeled in all two targets for 26 yards during Saturday's 29-24 victory against Nevada.
Impact
Smith wound up being the Mustangs' top ball-carrier in their Week 0 win. He had more carries and yards than both Jaylan Knighton and LJ Johnson Jr. Nevada did well to bottle up the rushing attack for the most part, and SMU ultimately needed to make big plays through the air to win the game. SMU is an offense that figures to live and die by the pass, but a strong performance from Smith could continue to net him more carries than anticipated moving forward.

Changes position to running back
Smith is listed as a running back on the SMU roster for the 2024 season. He spent the 2023 season playing wide receiver for Miami.
Impact
Smith will try to see more touches and take advantage of his above-average speed in a new position. However, he starts the season in a backup role behind the established backfield duo of Jaylan Knighton and LJ Johnson.
