Officially demoted Gulbranson has officially been demoted to QB2 in Palo Alto, per Rivals.com.

Impact Gulbranson was benched for Elijah Brown after his third interception amidst a 35-20 loss to Pittsburgh, and so the writing has been on the wall for a few days here. Now, Brown has officially been named the Cardinal's starter prior to Week 11 against North Carolina. In relief of Gulbranson last week, Brown tossed for 108 yards and a score on 71.4 percent completion.

Benched after third INT Gulbranson completed 17 of 30 passes for 228 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions during Saturday's 35-20 defeat against Pittsburgh.

Impact Gulbranson had another rough game, throwing an interception for a fourth straight contest and being picked off multiple times for a second straight outing. The Cardinal finally benched Gulbranson in the third quarter after the senior quarterback threw his second pick-six of the contest. While backup Elijah Brown didn't pick up a first down in any of his first four drives, he did lead a garbage-time 97-yard touchdown drive in the closing minutes.

Impact Gulbranson departed a Week 8 win over Florida State before halftime and played at full capacity against Miami. However, Gulbranson set season-worsts in completion percentage and passing yards while throwing multiple interceptions for the second time in 2025. The senior quarterback has totaled 1,585 passing yards and an 8:7 TD:INT. Given his struggles, it wouldn't be surprising to see Stanford consider turning to backup QB Elijah Brown, but there are no indications a change will occur imminently.
