Running it back in the Little Apple Johnson will return to Kansas State for the 2026 season, per Wyatt Wheeler of CJOnline.

Impact Johnson had something of a down year in 2025 as Kansas State limped to a 6-6 record. The quarterback tossed for 2,385 yards, 18 touchdowns and six interceptions while picking up 477 yards and eight scores on the ground. He was still a highly impactful player and one of the better gunslingers in the Big 12, but he'll return to Manhattan and look to elevate not only his game, but the Wildcats' program as a whole.

Impact Johnson didn't have to do much as Kansas State grinded Colorado down with their rushing game. It was a difficult day to pass the ball in the elements. Joe Jackson has been huge with five touchdowns and 435 yards over the last two weeks. With the win, the Wildcats became bowl eligible, so they will be playing again in a bowl game.

Impact Johnson added his eighth rushing touchdown of the season which is a career-high in a wild game in Utah. The Utes erased a 12-point deficit in the final seven minutes to pull out the comeback win. Most of Kansas State's offensive production came via the ground game and in the first half. Johnson threw an interception in his third straight contest and continues to struggle to be impactful in the passing game. He'll look to finish out the regular season with a better performance when the Wildcats go up against Colorado who has a bad pass defense.

Impact Johnson threw his 17th touchdown pass of the season and survived a slugfest with Oklahoma State. The dual-threat quarterback struggled under pressure for the majority of the game. The touchdown pass came in the second quarter on a 34-yard strike to Jayce Brown. Brown sustained a serious arm injury that's likely to keep him out for the rest of the year. Johnson will need to lean on other targets moving forward. Kansas State will look to become bowl-eligible when they play at Utah next week.

He did record two rushing scores in consecutive games; however, it appears that the dual-threat quarterback is being asked to do a bit much in the run-game. Star running back Dylan Edwards remains out with an injury and the other running backs have struggled. Johnson has at least one passing touchdown in five straight games and in eight of nine games overall this season. He remains a top fantasy option as the Wildcats are running their entire offense through him right now. They'll go up against a bad Oklahoma State team next week.
