GAME LOG

Breaks loose for garbage-time TD Clayton-Johnson recorded five rushes for 62 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 38-6 win versus Louisville.
Impact Clayton-Johnson, a senior transfer from Tulane, had received five carries all season before Saturday's contest. He matched that total against Louisville and turned the opportunities into a season-high 62 yards. Most of his production came on a 50-yard touchdown run with six minutes left in the contest. RB duties should be divvied up between TJ Harden, Derrick McFall and Chris Johnson in competitive games.

Impact It's unclear how exactly Clayton-Johnson joined SMU mid-season, but the transfer has joined the Mustangs' football team, likely enrolling with the university as a walk-on to bypass any transfer restrictions. It's unclear how Clayton-Johnson will fit into the SMU backfield, but in 2024 with Tulane, he ran for 227 yards and one score on 34 carries while catching eight passes for 57 yards.

Clayton-Johnson will retain a single year of eligibility at his next destination.

Withdraws from portal Clayton-Johnson has withdrawn from the transfer portal, per Pete Nakos of On3.com.
Impact The tailback initially re-entered the portal after transferring in from North Texas in the winter window, but now Clayton Johnson will return to the Mean Green. He'll look to build off the 227 yards and one touchdown he ran for with Tulane last season.
APRIL 28 • ROTOWIRE
Going portaling Clayton-Johnson will enter the transfer portal again, Pete Nakos of On3.com reports.
Impact Clayton-Johnson transferred to North Texas in the winter portal window, but will now seek a new program yet again. He apparently wasn't satisfied with the role he'd earned, and will now look to go impact a running back room elsewhere. Last fall, he ran for 227 yards and one score with Tulane.

Impact Thursday marked Clayton-Johnson's fifth 2024 game in which he logged double-digit yards. He also logged his season high in receptions and receiving yards, finishing this year's regular season with seven and 53 respectively. However, Johnson's bread and butter was in the rushing game, which he used to log 27 carries for 198 yards and one touchdown.

Out vs. Navy Clayton-Johnson (undisclosed) won't play against the Midshipmen on Saturday, Guerry Smith of The New Orleans Advocate reports.
Impact Clayton-Johnson is a rotational back for the Green Wave, as he hasn't logged more than six carries in a game this fall. His absence shouldn't impact Tulane's offense all that much in a big game against Navy.
NOVEMBER 16, 2024 • ROTOWIRE

NOVEMBER 9, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Scores in Thursday's win Clayton-Johnson posted six rushes for 59 yards and one touchdown and gathered in their only target for 10 yards during Thursday's 34-3 win over Charlotte.
Impact Clayton-Johnson scored his first touchdown of the season Thursday, a five-yard rush late in the fourth quarter. After not receiving any carries over the previous two games, he had six in Thursday's blowout. He could have some value next Saturday versus Temple with another blowout likely, but he still remains firmly behind Makhi Hughes and his heavy workload.

Now, Clayton-Johnson's year has him 38 carries for 159 yards. Even with the running back's eight receptions for 88 yards, his 2023 is on pace to be a slight downgrade compared to his 2022.
