Freshman Jonaz Walton might have surpassed Williams in the pecking order especially after putting up 181 rushing yards on 13 carries and two touchdowns against Stanford. The true test will be this weekend, Oct. 17 against BYU, the top task for the Irish since the opener against Wisconsin. The Cougars defense is in the top 10 against the run in the nation.

Because the Irish schedule is fairly light, the team might be conserving Williams for the toughest part of the schedule, BYU and Miami (Fla.).
