Impact Awaka has been used as a reserve in 2025-26 after starting 36 games for the Wildcats a season ago, but he's settled into the role well. Through six games, he's still seeing the exact same playing time (19.5 mpg) as last season, but his scoring has improved to 9.3 ppg, and his rebounding (10.7 rpg) has shot up as well. Arizona is fortunate enough to have an incredibly deep frontcourt, so Awaka can be aggressive in the minutes he does get without worrying about foul trouble. So far, that has paid off with some of the best per-minute marks in the country.

Impact Motiejus Krivas will get the nod at center instead of Awaka. The senior big man started in all but one of his appearances in the 2024-25 campaign, averaging 8.0 points and 7.8 rebounds per contest.

Impact Awaka recorded a double-double, his ninth of the season, with five of his 14 rebounds coming off the offensive glass. The junior center needed just 22 minutes to accomplish the feat as Arizona came back from an early double-digit deficit to outlast Oregon and advance to face Duke in the Sweet 16. Awaka had averaged just 15.0 minutes, 4.0 points and 6.3 rebounds since the start of the Big 12 tournament prior to Sunday.

Impact Awaka recorded his second-consecutive double-double, shooting a perfect 5-for-5 from the floor while adding a couple of assists, a block and two steals. It's the seventh time Awaka has posted a double-double this season and the fourth time he's accomplished the feat since the start of conference play. Outside of a scoreless outing against Houston in which he didn't attempt a shot, Awaka has posted double-figure scoring totals in five of six while reaching double figures in boards three times during that same stretch. During those six games, he's averaged 11.0 points and 8.5 rebounds across 23.5 minutes per contest.
