Not in starting five
Lopez isn't among the starters for Tuesday's game against Akron, Jordan Majewski of SB Nation reports.
Impact
The Chippewas are coming out of COVID-19 pause and Lopez hasn't appeared in a game in nearly a month. His absence from the starting five could be an indication he's sidelined Tuesday, but it's also possible he is only available for limited minutes given the long pause and he will appear off the bench. Lopez was averaging 16.8 points and 5.5 boards prior to the recent absence.

Won't play Saturday
Lopez will miss Saturday's game against Georgetown due to an ankle sprain, 247Sports reports.
Impact
Lopez has played each of the last two games following an extended absence due to a knee injury. Fortunately, it's an ankle sprain this time around, so there's a chance he won't be sidelined too long by the newet issue.

Scores 10 in return
Lopez had 10 points (5-7 FG, 0-1 FT), two rebounds and a block across 20 minutes off the bench in Saturday's 88-83 victory over St. John's.
Impact
Seeing his first action since Nov. 27, the sophomore guard appears ready to grab hold of a meaningful spot in the rotation. It may be too late for the Blue Demons, who own just two Big East wins and need a miracle to have a shot at postseason play, but Lopez can still build some valuable experience with the program set to potentially lose a few key backcourt pieces this offseason.

Injured in second half
Lopez suffered a lower leg injury Sunday against Providence after appearing to bang knees with an opposing player, 247 Sports reports.
Impact
Lopez started for the second time in DePaul's delayed season, but was limited to just 18 minutes despite the contest seeing double overtime. It appears an injury was to blame, as multiple accounts report the sophomore guard being spotted with crutches later on in the contest. This clearly puts his status for Wednesday's Big East matchup against UConn in jeopardy. DePaul did get back both Romeo Weems and Darious Hall for this contest, however, so it seems likely Weems would enter the starting lineup in his stead. Weems' 34 minutes played were more than three separate DePaul starters.

Makes first career start
Lopez started and had 11 points (5-7 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-1 FT), six rebounds and five assists across 20 minutes in Wednesday's victory over Western Illinois.
Impact
it was the first career start for Lopez, who appeared in 21 games for the Blue Demons last season and averaged 0.9 points in 8.5 minutes. While Lopez will likely be a rotation contributor this season, the start and playing time boost in the opener can likely be attributed to the absence of both Romeo Weems and Darious Hall, who were both out due to COVID-19 protocol. Nonetheless, he'll look to continue to take advantage of the extra opportunities as long as DePaul remains short-handed.
