Reports: Old Dominion Forward Mekhi Long Transfers to Virginia Tech Virginia Tech lands Old Dominion transfer Mekhi Long
4 DAYS AGO • 247SPORTS.COM
Old Dominion Monarchs and Texas State Bobcats square off in Sun Belt Tournament Texas State Bobcats (14-18, 6-12 Sun Belt) vs. Old Dominion Monarchs (19-11, 11-7 Sun Belt)
MARCH 2 • THESTAR.COM
Imo Essien - Scores eight in return Essien (concussion) tallied eight points (3-6 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 1-2 FT), three assists, two rebounds and one steal in 26 minutes during Friday's 71-67 loss to Marshall.
Impact Essien returned to the lineup Friday after missing the previous two games with a concussion. The sophomore guard is averaging 5.0 points, 2.6 assists and 2.0 rebounds in 24.8 minutes across his last five appearances.

Ben Stanley - Doesn't play Friday Stanley (knee) missed Friday's game versus Marshall.
Impact Stanley missed his third straight game due to a left knee injury. His next chance to play will come in the conference tournament.

Long scores 20, Old Dominion takes down Southern Miss 69-64

Led by Mekhi Long's 20 points, the Old Dominion Monarchs defeated the Southern Miss Golden Eagles 69-64 on Wednesday night
FEBRUARY 22 • ASSOCIATED PRESS
Ben Stanley - Sits out Saturday Stanley (knee) did not take the court in Saturday's 74-63 victory over Appalacian State.
Impact Stanley had to be helped off the court just two days earlier, so it wasn't too surprising to see the senior sit this one out. The Monarchs pulled off the victory in his stead, with fellow upperclassman frontcourt player Mekhi Long logging 17 points and 12 boards across 38 minutes. Stanley's next chance to see the court will be Wednesday against Southern Miss.
FEBRUARY 19 • ROTOWIRE
Imo Essien - Sidelined Saturday Essien (concussion) was held out of Saturday's 74-63 victory over Appalachian State.
Impact According to Marc Davis of WTKR News 3, Essien took an elbow to the head in the second half of Thursday's loss to James Madison. He was then evaluated for a concussion, which is likely why he was limited to just 12 minutes in the contest. Essien handles the bulk of the ball-handling for the Monarchs despite coming off the bench, but it's unclear if he'll be cleared on time for Wednesday's matchup against Southern Mississippi.

Long scores 17 as Old Dominion beats Appalachian State 74-63

Led by Mekhi Long's 17 points, the Old Dominion Monarchs defeated the Appalachian State Mountaineers 74-63 on Saturday night
FEBRUARY 18 • ASSOCIATED PRESS
Mekhi Long - Puts up 11 in return Long (knee) supplied 11 points (3-6 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 3-4 FT), three rebounds and three steals in 25 minutes during Thursday's 76-67 loss to James Madison.
Impact Long sat out last Saturday after starting the first 25 games of the season for the Monarchs, but he returned off the bench Thursday and surpassed his season scoring average, continuing a previous streak of five consecutive games in double figures. According to Marc Davis of WTKR News, Long had been dealing with a knee injury, but it appears he's well enough to play through it in the short term.
FEBRUARY 16 • ROTOWIRE
Ben Stanley - Helped back to locker room Stanley suffered an apparent injury early on in the second half of Thursday's game against James Madison and was helped back to the locker room, Marc Davis of WTKR News 3 reports.
Impact Stanley appeared to be in significant pain as he went down to the floor and eventually made his way back to the locker room. It's unlikely an injury designation will be revealed while Thursday's action carries on, and it does not seem plausible that he will make a return.
FEBRUARY 16 • ROTOWIRE
Mekhi Long - Sits out Saturday Long (undisclosed) did not take the court in Saturday's 70-68 victory over Texas State, Marc Davis of WTKI News 3 reports.
Impact No reason was given for Long's absence, and while he still traveled with the team, he remained on the bench in street clothes. The Monarchs were still able to pick up the victory and improve to 8-6 in Sun Belt play, with Ben Stanley stepping into the starting lineup in Long's stead. Any prolonged absence would be a big blow to Old Dominion, as Long is third on the team in scoring (10.3 ppg) and leads the squad in both rebounding (8.6 rpg) and steals (1.5 spg). His next chance to take the court will be in another road game Thursday at James Madison.
FEBRUARY 12 • ROTOWIRE
Ben Stanley - Returns to action Thursday Stanley (hand) returned from a six-game absence Thursday against Georgia State and finished with four points (1-3 FG, 2-2 FT), two rebounds and an assist in across 15 minutes.
Impact Stanley was out since mid-January after suffering a broken hand and was brought off the bench for the first time since Nov. 14. The Xavier transfer presumably will find his way back into the starting lineup sooner rather than later. For the year, he's averaging 10/1 points and 4.1 rebounds over 23.5 minutes per contest.
FEBRUARY 10 • ROTOWIRE
Tyreek Scott-Grayson - Returns Thursday Scott-Grayson (undisclosed) returned to the fold Thursday and finished with 10 points (3-7 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block across 22 minutes...
Impact Scott-Grayson picked up an apparent injury in the loss to South Alabama on Jan. 26 after managing to play just eight minutes and then failed to appear Jan. 28 versus Coastal Carolina. He was able to return Thursday after a one-game absence but was brought off the bench for the first time all year. The 6-5 senior is onto the third school of his collegiate career and is having the best season to date, averaging 14.2 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.1 steals over 28.8 minutes per game. He'll figure to find his place back in the starting five Saturday against Georgia Southern.
FEBRUARY 2 • ROTOWIRE
Tyreek Scott-Grayson - Sits against Coastal Carolina Scott-Grayson did not take the court in Saturday's 60-59 victory over Coastal Carolina.
Impact No word of an injury has officially been released, but Scott-Grayson was limited to a season-low eight minutes Thursday against South Alabama. He had started the previous 20 games for the Monarchs and averaged 30.3 mpg. Consider the senior guard questionable for Thursday's home showdown against James Madison.
JANUARY 29 • ROTOWIRE
Ben Stanley - Out at least two weeks Stanley will miss at least two weeks with a left hand injury, Marc Davis of WTKR News 3 reports.
Impact Stanley had started 17-of-18 games this season for Old Dominion. The Xavier transfer will look to get healthy and return sometime in early February.

D'Angelo Stines - Makes return Wednesday Stines (undisclosed) closed with zero points (0-1 FG) and one steal across four minutes during Wednesday's 72-62 victory over William & Mary.
Impact Stines returned to the floor after missing the teams previous game while dealing with an undisclosed injury. Stines plays a small role off the bench, averaging 9.9 minutes per game this season.

D'Angelo Stines - DNP vs. Norfolk State Stines did not play during the Monarchs' 68-62 win Saturday versus Norfolk State.
