Chooses UCLA Johnson announced Friday via his personal Twitter account that he has committed to UCLA as a graduate transfer.

Impact Johnson publicly announced that he was accepted into the graduate engineering programs at both UCLA and Stanford over the last week and ultimately decided to continue his education and basketball career with the Bruins. The 6-11 junior averaged eight points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.4 blocks and 1.1 steals in 24.8 minutes per game with Rutgers this past season. He'll head back to his home state of California and bolster a UCLA roster that lacked some interior depth during their Final Four run.

Impact Just because Johnson was accepted into this program doesn't necessarily mean he's going to end up at UCLA. It seems as though academics in terms of his major will play a meaningful role in where he ends up so it wouldn't hurt for head coach Mick Cronin to reach out to the Rutgers transfer. The 6-11 junior averaged eight points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.4 blocks and 1.1 steals in 24.8 minutes per game this season and would obviously make a great addition even though the Bruins aren't in dire need of another big.

Impact This news is somewhat surprising considering Johnson was a significant contributor for a Rutgers squad that earned a victory in the NCAA Tournament before its exit. The junior big man, who averaged 8.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.4 blocks and 1.1 steals this season, should have plenty of schools chasing his services for up to two more seasons.
