Senior Moulaye Sissoko came a long way to star at UNT, and not just because he's from Mali
Moulaye Sissoko’s alarm often kicks on while the rest of his North Texas teammates are sound asleep.

Best game of season
Sissoko finished with 27 points (11-13 FG, 5-9 FT), 11 rebounds and one steal in 32 minutes during Wednesday's 63-44 win over Tulsa.
Impact
It was both a productive and efficient outing for the fifth-year senior, who shattered his previous career high of 17 points. Don't look now, but he and the Mean Green are just a game behind Memphis for the top spot in the American Conference.

Injury beneficiary Sunday
Sissoko notched zero points (0-1 FG), one rebound, one assist, one block and one steal across 14 minutes during Sunday's 75-55 victory over Sam Houston.
Impact
Sissoko has his first game started across North Texas' 2022-23 season. That was because Abou Ousmane had to sit out because of personal reasons, which could happen again when the Mean Green play against Oklahoma State either Wednesday or Thursday. If so, Sissoko is expected to be North Texas' starting center again Sunday.

Logs 11 minutes in exhibition game
Sissoko (knee) had four points (1-1 FG, 2-3 FT) and two rebounds in Monday's exhibition game against Cedarville.
Impact
Sissoko was working his way back from knee surgery last February. It doesn't appear that it will cost him any game action going forward. Sissoko is hoping to crack the frontcourt rotation this season.

Active in practice
Sissoko (knee) participated in individual drills during an early-October practice, David Jablonski of the Dayton Daily News reports.
Impact
Sissoko's freshman season with the Flyers was cut short due to February knee surgery, but he managed to appear in 15 games before then, posting 1.3 points and 2.5 rebounds across 8.9 minutes. The fact Sissoko was doing individual drills more than three weeks ago bodes well for his availability, though the report did note that he wasn't necessarily in the group speculated to be the team's starting five. Mustapha Amzil appears to be the current favorite to start at center, with Georgia transfer Toumani Camara occupying the four and Jordy Tshimanga -- who was a full-time starter last season for Dayton -- also in the mix. That doesn't leave a ton of minutes left for Sissoko, but Dayton fans should get a better idea of his usage and availability in a Nov. 1 exhibition matchup against Cedarville.

Out for season
Sissoko (undisclosed) will miss the remainder of the season due to a knee injury.
Impact
The freshman underwent successful surgery to repair his left knee Monday and is expected to miss the next three to four months. Thus, Sissoko's season is over and he averaged 1.4 points and 2.7 rebounds in 14 games played.
