Hauls in six rebounds
Christie supplied six points (2-8 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 1-2 FT), six rebounds, two assists and one block in 28 minutes during Friday's 90-46 win over Western Michigan.
Impact
Christie has served as a starter in each of his first two collegiate appearances, and he's averaged 29.5 minutes per game. The freshman has shot just 27.8 percent from the floor to begin the year but has been quite involved for the Spartans.

Logs efficient 17 in exhibition
Christie started and had 17 points (5-7 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 6-7 FT), four rebounds and three steals across 19 minutes in Wednesday's 92-58 exhibition victory over Ferris State.
Impact
Christie was thought to be one of few locked-in starters as of mid-October, and Tom Izzo followed through with that Wednesday. Not only did the 6-6 freshman start, but he was second on the team in scoring to likely 2021-22 leading scorer Gabe Brown. It's not often Izzo turns to a freshman this early, but losses at the wings last season will almost inevitably result in the five-star recruit seeing plenty of action.

Slated to start in 2021-22
Christie looks solidified as a starter entering the 2021-22 season, Matt Charboneau of The Detroit News reports.
Impact
Christie is one of two players along with Gabe Brown who has reportedly earned himself a starting role at this point. That's a notable development considering Christie recently joined the team as an incoming true freshman. It's not a huge surprise given his top-20 ranking in the 2021 class, per 247Sports Composite. He figures to fill one of the voids from Joshua Langford and Aaron Henry, who have both moved beyond the college ranks.
