Scores 11 in reserve role
Sjolund racked up 11 points (4-9 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 2-3 FT), four rebounds and one assist over 26 minutes during Saturday's 102-89 loss to Santa Clara.
Impact
Sjolund scored all 11 of Portland's bench points as he moved back to a reserve role with Mike Meadows fully healthy. He flashed scoring ability during five starts this month, averaging 14.0 points and 8.0 rebounds. The UTEP transfer was mainly used as a three-point specialist for Portland this season where he shot 32 percent.

Scores 15 off bench
Sjolund finished Saturday's 86-76 victory over Loyola Marymount with 15 points (6-8 FG, 3-5 3Pt), seven rebounds, one assist, five blocks and one steal across 30 minutes.
Impact
Sjolund returned to a bench role with Mike Meadows back in the starting lineup after missing the previous game, and he responded with 15 points on 75 percent shooting. He also provided all five of Portland's blocks. After a 23 point, 18 rebound performance against San Francisco last Tuesday, Sjolund should be locked into significant minutes off-the-bench moving forward.

Gets waiver for 2021-22
Sjolund has been granted a waiver to play immediately during the 2021-22 season, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
Impact
Sjolund tallied 4.9 points and 2.1 rebounds over 14.2 minutes per game last season at UTEP but didn't start a game for the Miners, likely prompting his decision to enter the transfer portal again. He will head into 2021-22 likely looking for a bump in playing time with the Pilots.

Granted waiver for 2020-21
Sjolund has received a waiver from the NCAA making him eligible immediately, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
Impact
Sjolund transferred in from Georgia Tech where he appeared in 21 games. He will hope for more opportunities starting this fall with UTEP as he mixes into the forward rotation.

Lands at UTEP
Sjolund has transferred from Georgia Tech to the University of Texas-El Paso, Ken Sugiura of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Impact
Sjolund appeared in 21 games for the Yellow Jackets back in the 2018-19 season, posting 3.0 points and 1.0 rebounds across 9.4 minutes. With another projected season of sparse playing time ahead, he ultimately elected to take a redshirt and sit out the 2019-20 campaign. The 6-8 forward has since elected to take his talents elsewhere, but as an undergrad transfer, he'd traditionally have to sit out a year due to the NCAA transfer rules. Waivers that grant an exception to this have been more prevalent than ever in 2020, and Sjolund presumably has a good chance of getting one considering he didn't play at all last season.
