Impact Powers was coming off two straight excellent outings, an 18-point outing against UCLA and a 14-point showing against Nebraska, shooting a combined 59 percent in those games. However, those performances were more the exception, not the rule, and the freshman guard came crashing back down to reality against the Terps. Powers has struggled to make a big impact in year one in Piscataway.

Impact Powers started his seventh consecutive game for the Scarlet Knights, and it was easily his worst start of the season. He failed to hit a shot or get to the free throw line, and while he dished out three assists, that was just about the extent of his production. There will be nights like this for the freshman, just now getting his first taste of starting in the Big Ten. He'll look to bounce back in a trip to Los Angeles to take on both USC and UCLA this weekend.

Impact Powers notched his first career start, and indeed, he looked like a true freshman. The guard went 1-of-6 from the floor and was limited as a contributor elsewhere. It'll be interesting to see how head coach Steve Pikiell uses him moving forward.

Impact Powers is a 6-foot-4, 195-pound guard part of Rutgers' 2025 recruiting class. The freshman will look to enter the Scarlet Knights' rotation, and with practices similar to Tuesday, he just might on a regular basis. Even if unsuccessful this season, Powers may be a long-term piece for Rutgers.
