Starting in season opener Hill (knee) is listed amongst UNLV's starting five ahead of Monday's opener against Alabama State, Mike Grimala of the Las Vegas Sun reports.

Impact Hill will get the start for UNLV after suffering a season-ending injury in January. The 6-foot-6 senior started in seven games last season, averaging 10.7 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.1 steals on 29.9 minutes per game. Hill got out to a fast start last season before suffering a season-ending knee injury, and now it's time to see what the senior has left in the tank.

Impact UNLV's 2024-25 team began its preseason practice Monday. Despite more than eight months passing since he suffered his knee injury, Hill sat out Monday. But with him dressed, perhaps the redshirt senior is inching closer to being available. Fortunately for him, there is still more than a month before the 2024-25 Rebels begin their regular season.

Impact On a positive note, Hill has returned to the bench, which is better than if he couldn't do that. Despite that, the fact that Hill needs crutches to get around suggests the injury is a new one and unrelated to the wrist issue that cost him some time previously. The extent of his new issue is unclear at this juncture, but Hill registered six points, two rebounds, one assist and one steal prior to his departure.

Impact Hill indicated earlier in the week he was feeling 100 percent healthy, and it appears he's back in the mix for the Runnin' Rebels after more than a month on the sidelines. Given that a wrist was the reason for his absence, Hill's conditioning shouldn't be a major issue.

However, him feeling 100 percent does not mean he is such going into UNLV's game against the reigning Mountain West Conference champions. Head coach Kevin Kruger said "we'll see" about Hill being available, making it a safe bet to assume him questionable for Saturday.

The 6-foot-6 senior was still able to salvage Saturday's outing by continuing to crash the boards while also registering once of his more productive defensive performances of the 2022-23 campaign. Hill has now averaged 10.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, 0.8 steals and 0.6 blocks per game this season. He'll look to recover from this disappointing shooting performance when Oklahoma heads to Kansas State on Wednesday.
