Impact Taveras was a question mark to play heading into the game, but he wound up suiting up and was an instrumental part of the Golden Eagles' win, leading the charge off the bench with 16 points. After 13 straight missed games, it was quite the return to action for Taveras, and next, he'll look to get back into the starting lineup.

Returns to practice Head coach Jay Ladner revealed that Taveras (wrist) has returned to practice in a non-contact fashion, per Dima Mixon of PineBeltSports.

Impact Despite the non-contact tag, it's encouraging to see Taveras return to practice in the midst of a 12-game absence due to a wrist injury. The 6-foot-6 junior was having a breakout season with the Golden Eagles prior to his injury, averaging 15.8 points and 6.7 rebounds per game across 12 contests. Ladner added that the staff is hopeful Taveras will be ready to return in time for next Saturday's game against Kent State, though that will depend on his progression throughout the coming week.

Committed to Southern Miss Taveras announced his committment to play for Southern Mississippi for the 2025-26 season via his X account Sunday.

Impact Taveras will join the Golden Eagles following a single year with Fresno State. The 6-foot-5 freshman averaged 4.8 points in 10 minutes per game across 22 appearances for the Bulldogs this past season. He will retain three years of eligibility with Southenr Miss moving forward.

Entering transfer portal Taveras is entering the NCAA's transfer portal, VerbalCommits.com reports.

Impact After sitting out the 2024 Mountain West Conference Tournament as a healthy scratch, Taveras will begin considering other colleges to enroll at. He has three seasons of collegiate eligibility and one redshirt remaining.

At the very least, he will look to revert to his role pre-January, which was serving as a depth piece for the Bulldogs. From November to December, Taveras averaged 10.9 minutes across his 12 games.
