Impact Normand spent the weeks leading up the season recovering from a knee injury but was able to get in a full practice before the opener and did see the floor in the winding minutes. It's unclear yet if Normand will be able to crack the rotation this year after redshirting as a true freshman last season.

Impact Normand, who suffered a knee injury in mid-October, was able to return to a full workload during Friday's practice, but he remains a week or more away from game action as MSU prepares to open their season against Monmouth on Monday. The 6-foot-5 freshman, a top-150 prospect in the class of 2023, who took a redshirt last season, is not expected to debut against the Hawks.

Impact Normand's knee injury explains why he did not play during Michigan State's exhibition game at Northern Michigan on Oct. 13. But fortunately for the injured freshman, him possibly practicing as soon as next week gives him at least a slight chance to be available for another exhibition the Spartans have scheduled, this time for Oct. 29 at home against Ferris State.

Impact Normand redshirted his freshman season, and is still buried on the depth chart in East Lansing. He reportedly played well and hit a few shots, but there's simply a lot of options at guard and wing for head coach Tom Izzo. Still, it's encouraging to see Normand healthy and contributing after he dealt with a foot injury last season as well.
