Starting season opener Thomas (ankle) is starting Monday's game versus Alabama State, Mike Grimala of the Las Vegas Sun reports.

Impact Thomas was previously ruled out for Monday's opener but he clearly made significant progress with his ankle injury in the last week. The sophomore is coming off an excellent season where he started 34 games and averaged 13.6 points, 2.7 rebounds and 5.1 assists in 34.9 minutes per game.

Impact Thomas suffered a rolled ankle according to head coach Kevin Kruger and the sophomore guard has been spotted in a boot this week at practice. The 6-foot-1 sophomore was electric in his freshman season with the program, tallying 13.6 points, 2.7 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 0.9 steals on 34.9 minutes per game. Thomas will have his next opportunity to return Nov. 9, against Memphis, and either Jace Whiting or Brooklyn Hicks are likely to start in his place in the interim.

Fully cleared Thomas (wrist) is fully cleared for basketball-related activities, according to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.

Impact After undergoing wrist surgery earlier during the offseason, Thomas is ready for his sophomore effort with UNLV's basketball program. The guard's first was an electric campaign that saw him average 13.6 points and 5.1 assists across 34 games he started. Averaging over 10 points and five assists as a regular starter is insane production, something to be expected once again during his second season.

Thomas is a large part in why UNLV has won nine of its last ten games, as he's been averaging 15.7 points, 3.7 assists and 2.6 rebounds per game during the team's hot streak. Expect the freshman from Las Vegas to continue improving as UNLV looks to add a massive win to its resume Tuesday against San Diego State.

Impact Thomas saw limited usage earlier this week in a lopsided win over Air Force, but he was back to his high-scoring ways Saturday, and it helped UNLV earn a signature victory over a quality Colorado State team. Don't look now, but the Rebels have won seven of eight games and are positioning themselves for an at-large bid in the NCAA Tournament. Thomas has been the major driver, as he leads the team at 12.8 ppg and has bumped that mark to 15.8 ppg across the aforementioned eight-game stretch.
