Ready to go for Saturday
Ruffin (illness) is expected to play Saturday versus Arkansas, David Eckert of the Clarion Ledger reports.
Impact
Although Ruffin will be active for the game, head coach Kermit Davis said Friday that Ruffin hasn't been able to practice very much, making it difficult to predict how much usage he'll have in the contest. The sophomore has appeared in nine games this season, averaging 8.6 points and 2.9 assists while playing 17 minutes per contest.

Scores 17 points
Ruffin notched 17 points (5-10 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 5-6 FT), three rebounds, four assists and one steal in 26 minutes during Saturday's 63-55 victory over Temple.
Impact
Ruffin was not a part of Mississippi's starting lineup Saturday. However, the demotion benefited him. He has 31 points across his last two games played as a backup. Ruffin is expected to be part of the Rebels' starting lineup again soon. Amaree Abram would serve as his backup.

Unimpressive across 17 minutes
Ruffin ended Wednesday's 72-61 loss to UCF with two points (1-5 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 0-2 FT), one rebound and six assists in 17 minutes.
Impact
Despite being part of the Rebels' starting lineup, Ruffin did not play starter-level minutes. But considering he sat out many games from a significant knee injury, fantasy managers should not be surprised if they approach him cautiously for the time being. What may be more certain though is Amaree Abram returning to being a backup.

Logs first start of the season
Ruffin will start for the Rebels for the first time this season.
Impact
Ruffin missed the first seven games of the season with a knee injury, before finally making his debut against Memphis. Now, the guard will earn his first start of the year. Across the two games he's played, Ruffin has logged 24 minutes, 17 points, one rebound and five assists.

Four assists as backup
Ruffin (knee) totaled three points (1-6 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-2 FT), one rebound, four assists and one steal over 14 minutes during Saturday's 68-57 loss to Memphis.
Impact
Ruffin logged an assist rate that fantasy managers should consider sufficient based on his playing time Saturday. Once he likely returns to Mississippi's starting lineup, they could receive a lot of value. Ruffin averaged 12.5 points, 3.8 assists and 2.5 steals across his 10 games started as a freshman.

ROTOWIRE
Chance to suit up Saturday
Head coach Kermit Davis said Friday that Ruffin (knee) will be a game-time decision Saturday against Memphis, Michael Katz of the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports.
Impact
Ruffin's 2021-22 campaign was cut short after he suffered a season-ending knee injury Feb. 1, and after recovering and gaining medical clearance for basketball activities, he then sustained a bone bruise during Mississippi's exhibition matchup versus West Georgia. The 5-foot-9 guard hasn't seen any game action this season as a result, but Saturday's contest against the Tigers could possibly account for his 2022-23 campaign debut. If he's indeed able to give it a go, expect some sort of minutes restriction for the sophomore.

Ruffin (knee) won't play in the rest of the ESPN Events Invitational, David Eckert of The Clarion Ledger reports.

Will miss opener on Monday
Ruffin (knee) suffered a bone bruise in last week's exhibition game against West Georgia and will not play in the regular season opener against Alcorn State on Monday, 247 Sports r...
Impact
Ruffin played 17 minutes and scored six points (3-11 FG) while adding three boards and three assists in the exhibition contest. He wore a knee brace during the game as he is still recovering from a knee injury last season. Coach Kermit Davis said that Ruffin suffered a setback in the exhibition game and will be evaluated on a week-to-week basis going forward. Everything appears to be structurally fine with his repaired ACL, but the knee is still causing Ruffin issues. It's looking like he will miss at least a few games to start the season. True freshman Amaree Abram is an option to start at PG while Ruffin is out.

Gets the all-clear
Ruffin (knee) has been cleared for all basketball activities, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
Impact
Ruffin's freshman season with the Rebels was cut short in early-February due to knee surgery, and his absence extended into August, when he wasn't able to participate in the Ole Miss foreign tour. Now in the clear, look for Ruffin to serve as the primary ball handler after averaging 12.6 ppg and 3.4 apg a season ago.

Ruffin announced he would be receiving season-ending knee surgery in early February, and he has still not fully recovered from this procedure. As a freshman, Ruffin averaged 12.6 points, 3.4 assists, 1.5 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game and would be a great addition to Mississippi in 2022-23 if he can get healthy in time.

Will miss rest of season
Ruffin (knee) will miss the remainder of the season, Michael Katz of the Wyoming Tribune Eagle reports.
Impact
Posting 19 points in 20 minutes, Ruffin suffered a severe knee injury during Ole Miss' upset win over LSU on Tuesday. The freshman will now reportedly undergo surgery and will miss the rest of the year. Ruffin will surely be missed by the Rebels, as the guard has started each of the past 10 games and averaged 12.6 points and 3.4 assists. With Jarkel Joiner (back) still sidelined, Austin Crowley will presumably take over point-guard duties for the time being.
