Tennessee junior forward Cade Phillips will miss the rest of this season and have surgery to repair his left shoulder

Undergoing season-ending surgery Phillips will undergo surgery on his left shoulder that will sideline him for the remainder of the 2025-26 season, Mike Wilson of the Knoxville News Sentinel reports.

Impact Phillips dislocated his shoulder in January and dislocated it once again over the offseason, forcing him to wear a brace for all of this season. The forward will undergo surgery to address the injury. Phillips started in nine of 10 appearances this season, averaging 3.8 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.1 blocks across 16.9 minutes overall. Jaylen Carey is the favorite to replace Phillips in the starting lineup.

Impact Phillips' 15 points were a career best for the sophomore, and they came out of nowhere. He hadn't played 20 minutes since Feb. 8, and he hadn't even taken as many as eight shots all season. Still, his 6-of-8 shooting from the field was instrumental in helping the Volunteers hang on against a surprisingly feisty Gamecocks squad.

Though his minutes have slightly decreased since the new calendar year (down from 17.5 to 13.2) he remains a reliable bench option for the Vols. In the loss to Kentucky, he made the most of his 12 minutes, managing to get to the charity stripe four times and pulling down three rebounds.
