Agent says TE Kroft, Jets agree to terms on 1-year deal
NEW YORK (AP) — The New York Jets and former Buffalo Bills tight end Tyler Kroft agreed to terms on a one-year contract, agent Mike McCartney announced on Twitter on Friday night.
The 28-year-old Kroft joins a tight ends group that includes Chris Herndon, Ryan Griffin and Connor Davis.
The Jets didn't announce the move, but
New York did make the signings of former Jaguars wide receiver Keelan Cole and former Chargers offensive lineman Dan Feeney to one-year deals official.
Kroft spent the past two years in Buffalo after playing in Cincinnati his first four NFL seasons. He had 12 catches for 119 yards and three touchdowns last season.
The 6-foot-6, 252-pound Kroft was drafted in the third round by the Bengals out of Rutgers in 2015. He has 85 career receptions for 851 yards and 12 TDs in his career, which includes 42 starts.
The Jets entered the NFL's free agency period this week with about $69 million in salary cap space, ranking among the league leaders. In addition to Kroft, Cole and Feeney, they have signed defensive end Carl Lawson, linebacker Jarrad Davis, wide receiver Corey Davis and special teams ace Justin Hardee, and agreed to terms with defensive back Lamarcus Joyner.
New York has also re-signed backup wide receiver Vyncint Smith and running back Josh Adams. The Jets also used the franchise tag on safety Marcus Maye, whom they hope to sign to a long-term deal.
