Fitzgerald scores 18, Tennessee State beats Austin Peay 69-65
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Marcus Fitzgerald Jr. scored 18 points as Tennessee State beat Austin Peay 69-65 on Saturday night.
Fitzgerald shot 6 for 11 (2 for 5 from 3-point range) and 4 of 7 from the free throw line for the Tigers (6-3). Christian Brown scored 17 points while going 4 of 8 and 9 of 9 from the free throw line. Jaylen Jones was 5 of 14 shooting, including 1 for 4 from 3-point range, and went 1 for 5 from the line to finish with 12 points.
The Governors (3-6) were led by Ja'Monta Black, who recorded 19 points and seven rebounds. Demarcus Sharp added 19 points, six rebounds, seven assists, two steals and three blocks for Austin Peay. In addition, Sai Witt had nine points.
