News: Fells will be given the chance to compete for the Giants' starting tight end job during training camp, ESPNNewYork.com's Kieran Darcy reports.
Impact: After he was cut by the Patriots in training camp last season, Fells, 30, ended up sitting out the entire 2013 campaign. Despite his lengthy sabbatical, Fells' respectable career track record was enough for the Giants to bring him in for a tryout after the season, with the team ultimately inking him to a deal in January. Though Adrien Robinson looks to be the prohibitive favorite to win the starting job, Fells has been receiving reps with the first-team in the early stages of camp, and possess the most experience of any of the tight ends in camp. Even if he somehow claims the starting gig, Fells shouldn't be viewed as much more than a lower-tier fantasy option at the position.
