News: Hillman rushed for 74 yards and two touchdowns in Denver's victory over San Francisco. Impact: Hillman has filled in nicely for injured Broncos RB Montee Ball. He found the end zone for the first time Sunday, one week after rushing for 100 yards on 24 carries.(STATS, 12:17pm)

News: Hillman had 14 carries for 71 yards and two touchdowns, adding four receptions for 29 yards on four targets, in Sunday's 42-17 win over the 49ers. Impact: Juwan Thompson had six carries for 30 yards, and C.J. Anderson received just two totes for nine yards. In addition to dominating the touches, Hillman got all of the goal-line work, which included a one-yard scoring run late in the third quarter. His best play of the night was a 37-yard touchdown run earlier in the third quarter, with the long gain making up for an otherwise mediocre outing on the ground. With Montee Ball (groin) expected to miss another game or two, Hillman figures to get the start Thursday night, against a banged-up San Diego defense that struggled in its last two games. Given that Ball hadn't been playing well, Hillman is making a case that he deserves a significant role, even when his position mate is back to full health.(RotoWire, )

News: Hillman enjoyed a solid performance in his first career start, running 24 times for 100 yards and catching three passes for 16 yards. He did fumble once, though the Broncos recovered. Impact: Hillman looks to be Denver's top option at running back with Montee Ball sidelined. Juwan Thompson was the only other Denver back to carry the ball Sunday, rushing eight times for 38 yards.(STATS, 1:27pm)

News: Hillman, starting in place of the injured Montee Ball (groin), had 24 carries for a career-high 100 yards, plus three catches on five targets for 16 receiving yards Sunday against the Jets. Impact: The one negative on Hillman's stat sheet was a fumble at the end of a 24-yard run, an issue that got him benched at the beginning of last season, but luckily for him wideout Andre Caldwell was able to recover it. Backup C.J. Anderson didn't get a single touch all game, while presumed third-stringer Juwan Thompson finished with eight carries for 38 yards. With Ball expected to miss a number of weeks, Hillman should get the start in Week 7 against the 49ers, though it'll be a tough matchup against a defense that's allowing only 77.2 rushing yards per game heading into Week 6.(RotoWire, )

News: Hillman is expected to start Sunday's game against the Jets in place of Montee Ball, who is out for at least three weeks with a groin injury, the Denver Post reports. Impact: The Broncos reportedly brought in Mikel Leshoure and LaRod Stephens-Howling for tryouts Tuesday, but decided against signing one of them, and instead chose to go with the three-headed monster of Hillman, C.J. Anderson and Juwan Thompson. Hillman will likely see a majority of the carries, with Anderson as the No. 2, despite being inactive last weekend against the Cardinals. However, Thompson, who had an eight-yard touchdown Sunday, is the biggest of the three, so he could be used in short-yardage situations.(RotoWire, )

News: With Montee Ball (groin) expected to miss a couple weeks of action, Hillman is in line to head the Broncos' rushing attack in the meantime, Mike Klis of the Denver Post reports. Impact: While Ball is sidelined -- likely for the next 2-to-3 games -- Hillman, who racked up 65 yards on 14 carries in Sunday's win over Arizona, is line to be backed up by C.J. Anderson and rookie Juwan Thompson. Hillman thus merits an immediate pickup for those, in particular owners who had been relying on Ball, in search of running back help.(RotoWire, )
Oct 5, 2014
News: Hillman had 15 carries for 64 yards Sunday against the Cardinals. Impact: Hillman saw a big increase in work after Montee Ball was forced from the game with a groin injury. While Juwan Thompson scored a touchdown Sunday, Hillman is expected to see the largest portion of carries if Ball is forced to miss any time, which appears to be a realistic outcome, according to the Denver Post. Fantasy owners who jump to Hillman should be cautioned, as the Broncos will face a Jets defense in Week 6 that is among the league's best against the run.(RotoWire, )
