Competing for starting gig Van Roten (toe) will compete with Brian Winters (shoulder) for the No. 1 right guard job in training camp, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. Impact Van Roten started 11 games for Carolina in 2019 before suffering a toe injury that required him to sit out the final five contests, but after undergoing December surgery he's set to enter training camp at full health. The 30-year-old veteran should be considered the early favorite to win the starting job after the Jets opted to sign him to a three-year, $10.5 million deal in March, but Winters will be given at least some opportunities to compete.
