News and Analysis
Cooks caught two passes on three targets for 23 yards in SUnday's loss to the Lions. He played 65 of 74 offensive snaps, compared to 62 snaps for Marques Colston and 47 snaps for Kenny Stills, reports the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Impact: Despite seeing significantly more playing time than Stills, Cooks was unable to get anything going, while both Colston (six catches for 111 yards) and Stills (five catches for 103 yards and a touchdown) had big statistical performances with Jimmy Graham sidelined. With the Lions boasting one of the best run defenses in the game, it appeared the Saints' strategy was to find their running backs on short passes, an area where Cooks usually thrives, as the Saints' backfield combined for 13 receptions on 17 targets. With New Orleans' Week 8 opponent, Green Bay, significantly softer against the run, the team will likely have more success running the ball up the middle, which could free Cooks more on the outside. Though he may never be an elite red zone threat, as long as Cooks continues to see elite substantial playing time, he should remain a viable wide receiver option in most leagues and particularly in PPR ones.
